Jane's, Everclear, Weezer...I get it! The best of days for the most righteous generation. However, you should be careful making statements like your last sentence. I uttered the exact same phrase back in early December (2019) about my pace of progress on a spiritual path and since then I've had to give up sugar...caffeine...beer and grain-based liquor...and dammit all...weed! Best of friends for over a quarter century we were. (But at least my pace of progress on my path is coming back? Hmm.) Consider yourself on notice. ;)

This song reminds me of my sister in law who died this past December, they found her and her boyfriend dead of an overdose outside of their car...needles strown around on the ground, she just couldn't fight the demon. I will always wish that she could have stayed off of that cloud for her daughter who will have to live without her, who never truly got to see her clean and sober and her other kids that were ripped from her. I'll always remember the last day I seen her, telling her to leave before my husband got home who had banned her from the house because she had been stealing from so many family members. I will never forget that I couldn't help her. She was a best friend turned addict, a mother turned addict, a wife turned addict....its a demon that takes so many hearts. I'll be seeing Bush on May 23rd, this songs for you Kristi.

I lived with that demon controlling me for 15 years. Im 8 years clean. Me and my wife just adopted our niece, because her mom is strung out and not capable of being a mother. I also have a best friend that has been a junkie since we were in high school, i am always afraid that i will get the call.... God bless you, and may the Lord heal your heart, from the pain of loss.

I had a cousin back in the days this was on the radio that was the only other wild child in the family, and also a decade my superior. She quizzed me at a family gathering about what music I was listening to lately. I answered: "Lots of Bush and of course Metallica as always". She smiled and told me she had a Bush tape in her car stereo and was listening to it on her way up. Friggin legend. Love you Carrie!

I had no older siblings and no pocket money to buy albums, taping off radio was my life. Like my little stereo boom box was permanently set on record/pause waiting for a great song to play. I still have some of those cassettes, but sadly they are stretched and worn from years of love and abuse; much like my body and soul.

So did I! This was summer 96 I think, the 3 toured the US. No doubt was a completely unknown band and would only play a few songs. People would do enormous mosh pits for “Machine Head”. Something I can’t quite put my finger on at the end of this song when the instrumental kinda goes off the rails and he says “why do you why do you why do you why do you.” It’s almost like it metaphorically explains life and all the madness going on around you constantly and all the noise can really be overpowering and drown you out. And those words are what you say to yourself because you can’t understand why everyone is so insane. You have to repeatedly remind yourself that “they” are the problem and you are normal. Yet you are always right on the edge of completely losing yourself to madness because after some time the lines really start to get blurred. Not quite sure if that was the desired effect when they recorded this, but that’s how I perceive it and it’s probably one of the most powerful moments I can think of from any song. It makes sense to me at least. Anyone else get that impression from this??? One of the best overall records ever made in my opinion… for a lot of reasons but that really amplified it for me. And I’m not even a huge bush fan.

One of the few songs that radio tried so hard to ruin but failed.
@brianfreeman94216 жыл бұрын
They tried the overplay with many songs. They played Pearl Jam- every other song. Our camera shop/laser teacher/astronomy shop (I am just realizing what a strange class that was...) he had us vote on songs between 3 stations and so PJ, another, PJ, lasers, PJ, and it was surreal. Black room sexual stunts and pinhole cameras, an alien head in a jar, and a rudimentary car manufacturing program on an ancient computer (it was ancient back then!). What were they teaching us? But no kid named Jeremy. Just the song. And 2 kids stuck forks in sockets. No cell phones. The closest was those car mounted ones, n maybe a brick phone. I didn't wanna listen to the radio at all after the PJ overplay. Now, I enjoy them just fine. WTF was that class meant to do?
@brianfreeman94215 жыл бұрын
@[Psychonymphsia Ultravistous] cuz of your name I am assuming you're not millenial. That was the story of one totally absurd fucked up class in middle school. PJ is obviously Pearl Jam. It was an easy 90s techshop class & photo with darkroom. It was a disaster every day! Totally abridged version, btw. I am a true insomniac that has read 200 classic books and novels before 10 years old, hated the spotlight in school and in competitive athletics. I hope that helps make more sense now. What's the suffix of your handle mean?
@brianfreeman94215 жыл бұрын
@[Psychonymphsia Ultravistous] and I like the handle name. I am going to change mine but keep my current name on cuz you have a ever handle If you're a smart millennial or have kids, I am the guy that killed the curfew law in Washington State at the very least, plus$20,000. I was 23 and say arrested and turned into a big fucking deal. Just trying to entertain with stories or share knowledge, humor, and decency. Are you into physics or occult?
