Wow...just Wow..!! This was an incredible video of an incredible Rusty Richards. I am 70 and grew up with Roy Rogers & Dale Evans and their movies, and of course...Trigger. But I didn't know that Roy's real name was not Roy Rogers, but Len Slye..!! How 'bout that..!! And the song that Rusty sang at the end brought me to tears, so full of love and memories and so well sung even at his age. As I was listening to him sing and play his guitar, I thought of John Denver and how well he could have also sung this song. Thank you so much. W.O.W.. for a great interview and such a kind guest.

Thanks for preserving this wonderful stuff from a bygone age, Rob. In the decades and centuries to come, I pray that voices like Rusty Richards and the rest of the "Sons of the Pioneers" will shine just as bright as the days they were first recorded on film and on LP records. There's a lot to be said for clean and wholesome pure entertainment where we all understand and know the words and can tap our toes to a swinging beat.

@@AWordonWesterns, thank you for your personal response. It's always a great pleasure to get a response from a KZbin host. I'm hardly of the vintage when these films came out (born 1967), but I certainly can appreciate "older" films that were brand new when my Depression Era parents (Dad, 1931, Mom, 1936) grew up. Saturday night was "Saturday Night at the Bijou" at my home when Dad would come home late from his day at the delicatessen he either owned or worked at throughout my life and we'd watch John Wayne movies or some other western just about any old movie on television that came on when my Dad or Mom were home long before cable television. Films from the "Golden Age of Hollywood" are all "Mother's Milk" to me. I was even on Metro Media Television when I was about 15 or 16 to do the "intro", "mid-film review," and "outro" of "Will Penny." Got paid $100 for that and have it on video. I looked like and read the lines like a wooden post, but it's my 15 minutes of fame. I try whenever I can to educate younger folks to appreciate these "older films" if only because there I don't believe there will ever be another "Hollywood" like it where these kinds of films will be made again the way they were made, with the budgets that made them, and actors who weren't just "stars" but really could act and honest to goodness real acting and stunts and not CGI work. And for those men and women who could not only act, but also sing and/or dance and/or and play a musical instrument, and/or who had extreme comedic talent or agility to do physical stunts ... well let's just say "they don't make 'em like that any more." Lastly, I miss the evening variety shows that were true entertainment. So thanks for preserving this great stuff.

RUSTY RICHARDS what a fabulous cowboy, and a fabulous career... He truly embodies what it means to be a cowboy both on-screen and off. Add to that an iconic singing career and a poet to boot. His heartfelt memories are really something to be proud of, and they are the kind that can never be copied in todays world. It's characters like RUSTY, the kind that rarely are seen in the limelight that get to tell their stories to us thanks to Rob! I'm sure he well misses those precious days and the scores of cowboys and all those horses he has known... as he said "I was too late to be one of the Gower Gulch cowboys", but he sure knew what it meant to be the next generation as a stunt man, extra and all-around wrangler!

Endure to settle new territories. Laramie was a stage station where people passed thru to get somewhere else. Maverick showed a funny but very serious side of life. Each series was set in different times/areas of the west. Before the gold rush, the war between the North & South, a single father raising his son, etc. Hardships, struggles, hard work, faith and hope built this land & these shows portrayed it all. I know I'm getting off the topic but they were informative, ton of entertainment and families could watch together. They are so very missed by this old girl.
