I personallly never did get the fat shaming that Rosie got just because she wasn't 'thin' like the original cartoon character was, she did a great job and did an amazing job doing the laugh as well.

The Great Gazoo is definitely one of my go-to examples of a cartoon not translating well in live-action. He looks genuinely creepy & the floating effect feels distracting at worst.

1:40 I kind of agree, although there are some things like Flintstones Xmas Carol or the Flintstones Kids that I do love. But I was always more drawn to the Jetsons overall. Still, the first Flintstones movie was a lot of fun, you can tell everyone was having a good time making it and you gotta love those Jim Henson Creature Shop animatronics.

I am the opposite. I think The Flintstones is much funnier. Ferd is mischievous and comes up with get-rich-quick schemes. That's funny. George just lets his boss walk all over him. That's not very funny. The 80's seasons are a bit better than the 60's episodes. I like the one with the Mirrormorph.

I can't hate the first one. The casting mixed with the Creature Shop work and the barely realistic looking dated CG so it still looks semi-okay kinda saved it for me. Like, whoever decided to cast John Goodman and Rick Moranis as Fred and Barney should get a raise.

Seriously, those two are grade A casting. Doug Walker said Stephen Baldwin was born to play Barney but nah, he's unironically too tall, Rick Moranis was the one.

I can see why since O'Donnell does give Betty a bit more fire if that make sense like she still is the loving wife of Barney and you can still tell that the two characters love each other very much but O'Donnell just makes Betty more than just a just their character i also think who they got to play her in the prequel did a good job as well

@@anthonysandoval5512 If you ask me, perhaps the elements that work for the first Flintstones movie (the Casting of Fred and Barney, the better looking Wilma, and the witty dialogue) combined with the elements that work in the second movie (The better looking Betty, the Romantic Subplot, Rock Vegas, and Chip being the Gaston to Fred's Beast) would've made Viva Rock Vegas much better than what it actually is.

Good job on the video!! I remember seeing these films back on ABC Family when I had cable and I remember liking the original more, partly because of how convinced I was at most of the cast playing these classic cartoon characters. Although seeing the 1994 film made me miss Rick Moranis more (I have those same thoughts whenever I saw Bridget Fonda in Monkeybone). But I'm glad John Goodman is still working and I buy how Mark Addy would grow to become John Goodman in between both Flinstones movies.

The original Flintstones I still enjoy to this day. Big turn on for me is John Goodman and Rick Moranis. They ARE Fred and Barney and nailed the characters. Viva Rock Vegas I never cared to see as I heard a lot of negative things about it. I’d much rather watch the original any day Very excellent job Jam!

Probably the best showcase for faithfulness to the cartoon is the fact they recreated the opening and ending for each episode in the film.

You know, if I was writing Viva Rock Vegas, I would make it a sequel or a Sudo sequel to where it’s its own thing separate from the movie and the whole series. I would write it to where The Flintstones and The Rubbles take a vacation to Viva Rock Vegas themselves after they've been working at the quarry for a long time with no breaks to spend time together. Another thing I would rewrite is Chip, I like Chip as the villain and his motives are pretty understandable, but I would probably change it up a bit and make him more of a threat. I would actually make him a deranged man that pretends to be a wealthy man when in reality, he's just a bum and he only acts sane for Wilma and tries to keep Fred out of the picture. So, by doing that he leers Wilma in and kidnaps her. So, it's up to Fred, Barney, and Betty to rescue her. Yes, this would still be a story about Fred and Wilma and their relationship. I would still need a reason why Chip likes Wilma. I would probably write Gazoo out of the story and have Barney, in some way, catch on to Chip’s scheme, so it would kind of align with his character back in the first movie to where he’s secretly an underestimated character. I would also recast some of the actors because some of them don’t work. If the original actors came back to do this, then it wouldn’t be a problem, but I understand the whole thing with John Goodman not wanting to do anymore movies because of him feeling shoehorned into the movie, thus canceling future Flintstones movies and the original cast leaving. But I like some of the actors, especially Mark Addy’s take on Fred. Most importantly, I would fix Stephen Baldwin’s hair for Barney. Now, I'm not sure if this would be better than the first movie, it would still have some problems, but I still tried to fix up the plot a bit and make it a bit more cohesive, if that makes sense.

I liked the Flintstones growing up, and I still like the reruns when I see them on TV. I was also liked the live action movie. I also like The Flintstones Christmas Carol when I came out. That said, I do like some of the other output from Hanna Barbera (Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs, etc.) more than the Flintstones. Are you aware of the 12-issue comic series from DC by Mark Russell and Mike Feehan? I think it's definitely worth a look. As is their Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles (also from DC) and their Billionaires Island series (From Ahoy Comics).

I loved both of these movies! Admittedly, we didn't have internet access in my home when I watched these movies (on aerial television, age 6 or younger) so I couldn't check the internet to realise my mistake with my assumption of Viva Rock Vegas being the first movie! I didn't find out that I was wrong until fairly recently. I really do enjoy these films more than anything based on nostalgia. I am unsure if children today would appreciate the film, but I don't doubt that it would be a hit with very very small children. I loved watching these films with my dad and that's a good memory for me. Viva la Flintstones.
