Kid's from different neighborhood wore jacket's with there gang/club's name picture what not on there coat. The Colors got big after the movie colors came out! I think made teen's emulated what they saw on the movie's influences the youngers? Not saying the movie had a big impact because there always poverty/poor kid's one parent home that is looking for a group to kick it with.

I’m an older white boy who grew up around the SB RAZA on the streets, in jail and the joint. I remember when I was an active juvenile delinquent in the 70’s . I was told that SB WAS considered the north Ventura was the line. And if I went to the joint I might have problems.By the time I was catching the chain to Chino(86) I was told different and not to bring that up. What I found hilarious is that in the county they kept different towns away from each other . Santa Maria , Lompoc, Guadalupe. Because they were at war. When we got to Chino west yard and hit the yard , everyone from SB county was cool sharing Lemacs and coffee . I started laughing and said yesterday you were enemies .thats when they said, SB county sticks together in the joint. I said what if you go back to the county , they said it’s on and cracking . That shit tripped me out . I grew up on the WESTSIDE. When I was in Jr. high a family from LA moved to town , where I met a girl from Temple st. Who is the first person to tag the Curly bridge. her and her brother gave me the ins and outs on gang banging , weapons made from household products and tagging. I’d go to her house before school and listen to oldies on her 45 and drink quarts of Budweiser. Back then Guadalajara market sold beer to anyone I was buying beer when I was 13 or 14. You flooded me with child hood memories so try about the long text

Please take no offense. I was a kid living in tenements of the Bronx in N.Y.C. My Mom said she had to run out of the building due to constant fires. I still remember the smell, a combination of rotting wood and urine. Thus we applied and were accepted to live in a housing project in Brooklyn, Brownsville Housing, I remember. We felt we were moving up. Years later two guys were murdered in the adjacent building and my parents moved to California. We then lived in Florencia area. After I entered H.S. we moved to the "Lil Watts" area of Hawthorne. Later moved to Lawndale which was blue collar white. Later I visited Santa Barbara. I was stunned by the beauty of the city. Everyone has their story. It is difficult for those of us who grew up in the poor areas of the East Coat to imagine the beauty of the West coast. Many would say how can anyone turn to crime when living in the most beautiful city on earth? No disrespect.

My brother Ray Zarate what's in ya from 77 to 79 his nickname was weasel from Valle imperial a small town called Niland in Southern California. He was very well known. Did most of his time in Paso Robles. He didn't do very much talking it was all action. He never made it to the big house. But he was always locked up in county, for parole violations most of these crimes were violence to people, add family members. Remember there were 17 in our family 10 boys and seven girls and he always had a beef with one of my brothers. But God hates ugly, so may he rest in peace. I say if he ever were to make it in the big house, he would be one of the top dogs. No doubt.
