I genuinely think the internet will welcome this take with open arms, a LOT of fans think the Troy and Abed relationship should be taken as seriously and genuinely as you take it here. Thank you!

1:09 I actually read someone’s very well written essay comparing the representation of autism in Abed in community VS Sheldon in BBT. It was a great read!

8:06 oh my goodness I’m sorry I’m commenting so much but I’m so glad you included Valentines Day- watching the clear and direct communication, SEEING how much they value eachother and their relationship, and when Troy finds out she didn’t like Abed he sticks up for him and I think ends up chilling at the dance with Abed instead! Their relationship is my Roman Empire- I’m so happy about this video Edit: NO BECAUSE ABED ISNT EVEN UPSET THAT SHE CALLS HIM WEIRD (I am weird!) but Troy gets what was under the lines in that comment (in my opinion it’s showing an example of ableism towards abed because autism) and dips out immediately. I love this show, I love their friendship. 16:46 edit: Fun fact, the man who plays Toby also played a character in Doctor Who! I’ve been curious if it was intentional

Woaaaa. First time viewer here, and shout out to KZbin for bringing this video to me! This Troy and Abed video is actually opening my mind so much. I’ve found myself in this kind of dynamic and it’s always been soooo confusing but knowing there’s a word for it is comforting the way that labels can be :) Thanks for sharing and making this content!!!

Omg I absolutely loved this. Troy and Abed are the pinnacle of what a relationship is for me before discovering polyamory. Seeing them in this light connects so many dots that I can now join thank you for this. One thing I'm aware of is the level of understanding human nature/ social norms that writers need to know and understand is huge. They essentially take the troupes that make a relationship successful (conflict included) and applied it to a platonic friendship which is what queerplatonic is all about right. And I love that through this representation it opens the door to possibility of that not only being a reality but normalised. Thank you again this was brilliant! Have you ever felt like you had a specifically Troy and Abed moment in any of your relationship?

I love your take and I think it's dead on! But also, what a fantastically made video, I genuinely laughed out loud on the name of the Britta segment and the outro. The one thing I will note I regret is that the reality of Community is so obviously heightened that it sometimes makes things that happen in it seem less real than they are, to me at least. I think Troy & Abed's relationship is perfect, but it just seems in line with the outlandishness of everything else in the show, and as such, unattainable in real life. Which it isn't, queerplatonic relationships would do a lot of people a lot of good! The question is how you get to that point in our reality.

I have always been reading queerplatonic as queer platonic. As an aromatic person it’s hilarious I didn’t understand the actual meaning. Thank you for that! I also humbly suggest to see if the HBO series Scenes From A Marriage has some good content!

I loved this and 100% agree. But it is sad that when programming makes an active attempt to portray polyamory they fumble it, but here they accidentally portray an amazing queerplatonic polyamorous relationship as a joke… it’s sad how that works.

There is a lens I think that may be missing here. This show is written, I'm assuming, by monogamous writers, and the characters are written as monogamous. In general it's also very hetero. And so, why is it that, when romance/sex is on the cards, they don't feel threatened, but with the Toby friendship, it's a big deal? Is it because there is misogyny in their expectations of the type of relationship that is to be had with women? Where intense friendship, playfulness, nerd culture, etc, are not on the cards? Why are their relationships with women where sex is involved, seen as so different? Because these are not people thinking through a lens outside of monogamy or possessiveness, which seems to imply that they don't see closeness with women in those ways, as a threat.

Great video! I once heard most poly people are into Doctor Who. Do you think there’s any truth to that? It’s definitely a queer show, since it’s reboot anyway and I certainly love it
@OcyTaviAh16 сағат бұрын

In America, it seems to be popular with more social and affluent strains of nerds over 25, (also definitely shutins or ex shutins) which are also prime poly demographics. But I see lots of poly n poly adjacent stuff happening on that show every so often, the writers really seemed to want ten, rose, and jack as a couple lol i wonder if it was censors or their polyphobia that prevented what would've been such an exciting story.

Queerplatonic is a straight persons word for “besties” 😂😂😂 this is so wild. Real queer people literally suffer while straight poly people appropriate the things we fought and died to have the right for.
@txe73272 сағат бұрын
Um. Shes queer, she explains what queerplatonic means and it’s not 🏳️🌈 platonic. To queer something is to deviate from norms. A ton of queer people use and love this term to queer the idea of platonic, for example life partners you co parent with and live with but don’t want romance or sex with. That’s different than typical besties, and your own queer community uses it ✌️
