I'd keep the turkey in a separate area they need like a lean 2 type roof to get out of the rain. They will drown themselves. They won't be able to fit in the chicken door. ❤❤

Hi Mel & Gary!! I had a feeling you might end up moving the horse trailer. Only because it seemed like your spacious third tier wasnt very spacious anymore lol. Which means you will need somewhere else to store the animal food. Maybe you can get another shed through a sponsor. But if you do get one big enough to store bales of hay or straw. Just sayin lol. 💜

❤ I see a lot of work in your future just with the animals. You'll need a bigger freezer lol. Hopefully this year the garden will provide more food too. A whole bunch of other projects at the cabin. Wow and it will not be long hot weather will be there. So much happening at SLR. SO MANY DECISIONS ARE MADE. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT YOU DO.

You do not handle baby bunnies until they get full fur, if you handle before that the moma rabbit smells your sent on babies and will discard babies
@anibor99
@anibor99 Ай бұрын
That isn’t true. I have raised rabbits and have always handled them from birth. The mother rabbit knows your scent because you raise her too. I’ve also raised wild rabbits whose family and nest was killed by a mower, their eyes were still closed and no hair. We then let them back in the wild when they were old enough and they came back to our gardens for 3 years after, they also brought friends with. 😂 they said hey guys I know where there is food, let’s go. We eventually moved away because the property was sold, but neighbors say they are both around and come to them by calling the names.

Greetings from Northeast Ohio, oh no Gary, I still see those nasty trees growing. I also see they made plenty of babies. We call them the tree to heaven here in Ohio. It’s a slang term. They’re very evasive. I thought last year you got rid of them all. There are many other subscribers that advised that you do that.

The gabel ends, will you need any wood strips for the metal or vents to fasten to? Do you still need to put it up?
@MrMooneclips
@MrMooneclips Ай бұрын
i have a question about the metal sheet walls, are you going to make windows on it so you can take a look from the outside in whit out needing to go inside the "barn" ? i mean you can cut out a window and then put chicken fence on the window so nothing can go in or out from it and that would be a good ventilation area allso.

Did you order ur chicks 🐥 from Murray McMurray hatchery ? Cornish Cross meat bird is the best Chicken breed for hearty survival & one of the fastest growing and they get bigger than many other breeds. The bigger the chicken 🐓 the more food they’ll provide for your family of 5, and the less time growing them to harvest the less money 💰 you spend on food to feed them. The Cornish Cross make the best meat bird from chick 🐥 to harvest size 🐓 in 6-8 weeks. Also they’re a more tasty 😋 chicken 🍗 for pot, frying pan & grill than the breeds you’re using for your egg 🥚 production. 😁👍🏼

She ate her babies,and got enough protein from eating 4 babies. So she stopped and the 2 babies left are survivors. Next time do the cat food for the protein mama needs to prevent her from eating her babies. Just sayin, prevention is important for rabbit babies to survive. Mama needs extra protein!!! 😊💖 And for digestion all the rabbits need prairie hay!
@RealTalkwithSLR

I will definitely do the cat food trick next time, but she didn't eat any of them. She just not them on their spinal cord and killed them. So I'm not sure why she did that. They looked big and healthy and viable too. 🥺
@lydiamitchell6814
@lydiamitchell6814 Ай бұрын
@@RealTalkwithSLRwell cat food might help. And prairie hay helps stop the flat squishy poop. They love dried prairie hay. I also kept mineral salt blocks in the cage. Perhaps she didn’t have enough milk and she was biting because of that. I hope mama at least gets another chance with all the supplemental stuff she needs. To have enough milk and protein and all the stuff. She is such a sweetheart and deserves every chance. If she fails next time after all the stuff, then replacing her most likely will be necessary sadly.😢 thanks for responding! I truly love your sweet family and care about your success at homesteading! 💖🌷
