Yes. I don't want to get too deep... but... here is the deal- Only left wing people can be funny. Right wing people don't know how. However, left wing people are only funny when they are free to be offensive, BUT left wing people are ALSO burdened with a conscience and in this new era actively avoid being offensive. The result? We have left wing people shackling and hamstringing themselves and not being funny, just "punching up" and preaching virtue in an entirely unfunny way because that will always be inherently unfunny (see any talk show and SNL and etc). AND unfunny right wing people being offensive and not funny, because they don't know how, and this only strengthens the resolve of left wing people to avoid being offensive so as to avoid being like them, and thus themselves remaining unfunny as well. Indefinitely. We need left wing people saying the F word and similar in order for funny to return. There's only one person on earth right now doing that- Redbar Radio. Highly recommended, but yes outside of that niche specific little thing, comedy is dead.

@@Hardcastle83 I mean im with like 90% of this take. I just disagree with the core assertment that people aren't funny anymore. Society has changed like it always does and the way you have to tell and consume media changes with it. When people say you can't be funny anymore they're usually just saying I can't be a dick to those I consider less than anymore. Offensive unfunny shit gets called out on the regular now and people have conflated that with oh they're trying to cancel everything. Shane Gillis is a left leaning comic who has a whole catalogue of comedy like this. Jelsnik, Barbosa, Eagle Witt, all comics with similar vibes like this. all recent. Nobody's policing shit, comedy is still comedy. There's just a lower tolerance for being a bigoted dick and that's an improvement. You're right you can't say the F word on TV anymore. You can't do blackface either. the Zeitgeist becoming more inclusive does not mean people are less funny, it just means shit has changed and real comics will adapt and overcome. some people do punch up and preach and they aren't funny just cuz. mfs wanna feel like they're in some culture war so bad they miss out on how diverse shit has become. but sure. you can't make tv like you used to I guess.

Born in 85, memories made in 90's, I remember when UCB had their Comedy Central time slot taken over by robot wars, crying shame...thank goodness there exists a comedy club based on their style of humor in NYC, great place to visit even if it's not original crew performing - similar style where they revisit/recyle humor to compound it's affects, drink beforehand but be polite and stfu and enjoy
