Lance Rep did a great job on tour. Really knows his product well. I didn’t think he was nervous but enthused to share the Lance product. I want one. Says a lot when a company opens its production facility for filming.

That's how it is and should be when you care about your career and job and are a truly caring, sincere human. I find most of these RV companies are producing cheap garbage which they sell far overpriced. It really is ripping off people skills they've got.

This is the second video factory tour I am aware that you have done. I get the warm fuzzy feelings when, despite the noise, the manufacturer is not afraid of the camera showing anything embarrassing. I had not looked at Lance before, but I shall now.

We're brand new to RVing and are a week into our first major trip with a brand new Lance 1995...We've transited this week from Canada to South Carolina and have had a chance to both boondock and use full service sites...We're really enjoying our new interest which has been performing very well 'out of the box'...The functionality of the lay out...the room for storage and the ability to operate away from services has impressed us. What really got us interested in Lance was (1) the difference in how the coach is constructed (the materials used) and (2) the use of technology to reduce variance in construction quality. We also like the philosophy of larger fresh, grey and black tanks, solar panels and four-season functionality. Finally (as newbies to towing a trailer long distances) we wanted a design that centred around the towing experience - tandem axles, dexter torsion suspension and low aerodynamics- as our early sense is that wind, not weight, seems to have more impact on the towing experience. An unintended but appreciated feature of the unit is that it sets up and breaks apart for transport quickly and as we gain experience towing it in different environments we are really appreciating how well and docilely it keeps up with our tow vehicle.

Wish more RV trailer builders paid more attention to details including their "final" inspections. We have looked at the Lance tt's but didn't like any of the floor-plans to fit our 3 adult families needs. Was surprised when we were in Elkhart IN., Winnebago didn't offer factory tours....

I'm a California native and I want to like Lance Campers because they're based in California but I'm of the opinion that all fiber glass builds like the Northern Lites and Bigfoots are superior in durability, longevity, and holding their overall value amongst others. Northern LIte and Bigfoot are Canadian companies so you know winter proofing is important to them. That said, as long as you don't intend to camp in extreme cold, Lance Campers may be for you.

Thanks for the tour.. Although lance trailer can be expensive, the attention to the small items that we as consumers can't see is what make them last. I have seen two incidents on the Lance forum where Lance TT have flipped over and in both cases you could have tipped them back on their wheels and pulled them down the road. Quality does come at a cost.

Another travel trailer you may want to consider is the Oliver. You can check them out at www.olivertraveltrailers.com They are total fiberglass and extremely towable, because of their aerodynamics. That said, fully equipped with solar and most options they are $49k or almost twice the price of a Lance 1475.

I've owned a 1475 since last November. Almost everything works reasonably well, with one exception. The hitch coupler. The coupler often sticks when either hitching or unhitching and it can be a bear to get the coupler locked afterward. The dealer replaced the coupler with a new one identical to the first one. It works better, but still not as smooth as it should be. A related problem for me is the Andersen hitch "friction cone". When a certain amount of moisture or dirt gets inside, the ensuing squealing upon turning is an embarrassing show stopper. Andersen sent me not one, but two new cones over time. The newest cone works better but it too has recently begun to squeal. I trusted the dealer's recommendation for the hitch, because I knew virtually nothing about hitches. But if I had the opportunity and the money to burn, I would just replace the entire hitch with a new type. If you bought the 1475, I hope that your experience with the hitch and coupler is better than mine.

Humm, don't know much about their trailers, but I do know about their truck campers! In 91' I was gonna buy my Bro's Chevy pickup. Back in those days, The Lance Squire 3100 was the king of the beast in truck campers, and the industry standard! I almost bought the unit, but at the last minute, my Bro decided not to sell his pickup! Shortly afterwards I started looking at Class B's! Lance was a great company then, and Im certain they're even better today (especially after seeing this vid)! Nice production guys! 👍

All is good and until you buy one. Customer service and remote warranty work is a nightmare. Even short run remote work. They have no program set up for getting people out. Couldn’t use our sams club warranty yet either because we were still under lance warranty. Great camper but won’t go with the brand again for how they treat you after you are a customer....which is the most important part. Also having you bathroom sink drain into your black tank fills it full in two to three days with two people on board..1-2 days with 4 on board. Absolute joke no matter how they justify it. Wouldn’t have purchased knowing that fact. Bummer to have such a high quality product with these to critical failings(customer service and tank allocation).

They are not, but they may not have been using luan or an equivalent in the roof system anyway, so it might not be replacing anything less durable there. I don't know how it would be used in any floor system. It kind of looks to me like they're still only using a one-inch or one-and-a-fraction wall, though. That's awfully thin for a "4-season" claim. Aluminum framing short-circuits insulation as well. I'm betting that really cold weather will produce frost stripes on the inside walls where the frame members are located.

Metals can have a chemical reaction if dissimilar metals are touching each other.
@matthewbarlow8966
@matthewbarlow8966 5 жыл бұрын
It is actually a chemical/electrical reaction, and it is called galvanic corrosion. The difference in electrical potential of the two dissimilar metals creates a low current of electricity which corrodes the metals, essentially one metal giving electrons to the other metal eventually removing molecules of each in the manner that a battery does as it goes thorough its life.

I wish you can take the 15, 15 ft camper trailer and put in a rear slide out for the bed room, so the bed can slide back about 2 ft. This way the length of the trailer will be easier to tow. That way nobody will have to crawl over that person.

I was with him up until he said Stamped Steel frame that is Hook Bolted....I don’t know how that could possibly be better than I-beams on the length and proper welds... I suppose they have their reasons, I just don’t get it. Great video though, regardless. Thanks!
@ReflectedMiles
@ReflectedMiles 5 жыл бұрын
I would be more in agreement with him if he was talking about welding vs. bolting on the aluminum frame assembly because of the stress of big temperature changes when the metal wants to really move and the weld not so much--creates the weakest point in the frame. I'm much more doubtful about the stamped steel compared to traditional welded steel. I'm also a little more than mystified about using aluminum screws into aluminum framing components. That sounds like a handy way to avoid a dissimilar metals issue except that aluminum hardware is much less durable and easily over-torqued and that is why virtually all real engineers, not CAD designers, will specify a good stainless in that application.

I would rather have leaf spring vs torsion. Torsion bottoms out easily. Also if a torsion axle goes bad you cant just to to tractor supply pick up a replacement and swap it out in 30-60 minutes. Only thing I really didn't like ,well that and that they don't make their own frames.
@gregdegani
@gregdegani Жыл бұрын
Starting in 2022, they dont use Torson anymore, and have gone to leaf springs, with the road armor and shocks...
@jonnykk9278
@jonnykk9278 7 жыл бұрын
No insulation between frame and skin cold spots everywhere. Torsion suspension due to the fact that torsion axles are independent from each other, there is no transfer of impact. This means that in the event that a pothole or curb is hit, the full force of that impact will be on that one wheel creating more chance for damage. Secondly, it can be difficult and in many cases impossible to repair a torsion axle. The rubber inside the axle tubing makes welding out of the question, which also means in the event of catastrophic damage, the entire axle would more than likely need to be replaced.

Boatdesigner . That has not been my experience. Our TT has been issue free and when I called the factory inquiring about a factory tour and also getting clarification on adjusting the angle of our awning they quickly responded. Another thing I liked about our TT is the interior walls, the ones framing the bathroom for example are plywood not that cheap 2X2 with plywood like most all other RV's.

I think Jayco 5th-wheels use a 3-inch wall and this looks like about 1 inch. I don't know about Jayco's frames or smaller TT units. Their mad-rush construction sure does them no favors. I think Northwood probably has the best frames in the business as they make their own rather than buying a stamped product with another company's margin involved like Lance does.

I'm thinking I've got to go Lance for my next travel trailer if I don't want to get a piece of junk like most of the other brand RVs made in the USA are. The other travel trailer I really like is the Highland Ridge Open Range. The only thing is they stopped making the 221 RQB Light in 2017 which is the one I want. I am calling Open Range company very often to request and promote re production of this awesome 221 RQB Light Hopefully Lance will, offer an all aluminium trailer frame too. I will contact Lance very soon. I just don't understand what the huge advantage is to have the step up slides. Step up slides are an extra pain in the butt to get into. They don't need the huge ugly dictatorship flag of uncle Sam to mesmerize everyone. If anything put up an attractive flag of some type. It's just another form of brainwashing. If they really love freedom they would put up a nice painting or picture of nature scenes. We are in a factory, probably most all the workers are Latinos. We aren't in some sickening political building in Washington DC.
