So happy to hear you love your Class B. I want to buy an RV but was not sure I could live in a class B. And I live 10 miles from the Rincon. So love to know you love the Rincon in Ventura also. Love to watch your videos, you are both so cute and I love Leo! Happy camping!

MY wife and I have traveled for over 50 years .....and now it's time to sell the house and retire to the RV life. I studied the different options over a 15 year period and found the pros and cons for our comfort and gear for fishing, hiking etc. What I came up with is unique as it has not been done before. I have created the telescoping RV ........this unit is like a space station separated by one hatch. Kathleen,.....what I did was take our needs and add all the complaints about boondocking and moving around. LET US BEGIN-------> One new regulare cab RAM V-8 HEMI for MPG in the 20's when exploring with 18 ' of truck and _____POP UP FOUR WHEEL SHEEL.....CAMPER IN THE BED____. This is your explorer unit and it will have a big top bunk for 2 storage bellow on both sides for clothes ,gear like hiking....a 12 volt fridge a enclosed compost toilet to the roof fantastic fan and insulated for sound. On the front of the truck you can add a truck storage box with a kitchen in it or tools and you will see videos of that on you tube or stay 18 feet long and keep the kitchen stuff in the camper to cook outside. The next part is a double axle cargo kitchen that telescopes to the truck 3 feet when stopped for safety . Now you can go 16 feet long like us or 12 feet long .....we are having 6 feet of kitchen counter on both sides ....WITH AN EXIT DOOR OFF ONE SIDE OF THE TELESCOPE EXTENSION.......AND A DOOR EXIT OFF THE BACK 4x7 BATHROOM. We will have a gypsy wagon bed 3 feet high because I snore so I will sleep there and I stay up late for music or laptop research......We will have 200 gallons of water as people complain about that and we can fill before we stop for MPG weight. A grey water 100 gallon....storage under the gypsy bed for camping gear and tackle for fishing. 2 propane lights for chilly mornings or cool days .....vent for oxygen. K we just couldn't find anything to meet our needs and I can't cook with 30 gallons of water and a TINY 2 foot piece of counter and people are complaing about that. COST for our unit Truck $ 40,000 or $ 22,000 used 3 years......SHELL pop up four wheel camper.....about $ 12,000 new or less.......Cargo is $ 20,000 to have it built by the Amish wood workers with fine craftmanship

Not sure if you're into cycling, would you consider carrying bikes locked onto the back of the van on a daily basis in order to have them available for rides in the national parks/scenic areas? I know for me that would be one of the major draws to nomadic/van living in general.

I just discovered your KZbin videos yesterday, and I love them! We recently retired and would like to do some extended travel through the US. My husband and I are debating on the size van/RV needed. Your videos will be very helpful to us as we make that decision. I love your upbeat personalities! You are just the type of people that I love meeting as I travel. Ignore any negative comments.

I have been watching your channel for several months as I approached retirement on July 1st and am considering purchase of an RV for a LONG road trip. Two weeks ago, my wife and I finally got to see and drive a real Hymer Activ at a dealer in northern Illinois. It did not disappoint and we are seriously considering purchasing one. I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for sharing your experiences in such a thoughtful way.

Loved the live video. You both do an excellent job of presenting information. I always learn a lot! I am preparing to retire (in 2 weeks!) and hit the road in my converted campervan-a 2010 Ford Transit Connect. I won't have as much room as you have but I am traveling solo and plan to do most of my cooking outside. I am so excited to get on the road and see this amazing country. You two are an inspiration. I look forward to your future videos! Thanks for sharing your lives!

I've found you guys yesterdey by accident on Pinterest, started to watch and simply fell in love with what you are doing! I always tell my husband...someday we can sell the house and hit the road. You guys are showing us how this can be possible...of course it's not easy and there are lots of things to be considered...but you are doing it and that's amazing! Thank you for sharing this experience of yours. Don't mind the negative comments...deep down I think it's out of jealousy. Bless you and Leo. 👏🏻😊🚐🛣

I greatly enjoy your videos. The best way to handle negative comments is not to address them. Don't give those people attention. Joe, you are lucky to have such a good traveling companion in Kait. I have done family vacations with extended family. It's no fun traveling with a grump. Kati is a happy person with a sunny personality. Have you considered a dog run for Leo? When overnight camping I string a long metal lead up high between two trees. I run the handle of a nylon lead through the upper lead so the dog can travel back and forth. It allows the dog more range. Keep up the good work!

Three questions: 1) What are the essential insurances you need to purchase living full time in a camper lifestyle and are you guys ever worried about getting broken in (or is Leo a great guard dog)? 2) Are there insulations in a van that a regular car doesn't usually have? Do you have to deal with extreme temperature fluctuation compare to living in a house? 3) Where do you look for gym memberships that are open 24 hrs and is most available/common across the whole US? Or do you guys try out different gym chains as you go from state to state?

Aces! Husband and I are just in the "thinking about it" stage of getting an RV. We were coming to the conclusion on our own that we probably wouldn't use the bathroom. Among other things, the extra sink seems dumb. And national gym membership for the shower makes a ton of sense. Good to have our thoughts confirmed by experienced folks! Just not sure there will be a lot of no-bathroom options out there. Going to our first RV show tomorrow!

If you buy off the lot, then the only thing you'll find without a bathroom would be some of the tiny trailers. There are some custom build companies that will make it however you want: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ-rpIqVe9iijcU

We are not full timers and won't be but enjoy your videos very much. We wound up with a small travel trailer, 16.5 ft living area, and we love it. We could pay cash for it and store it in our driveway, and pull it with vehicles we already own. We have also found that the storage is more than adequate we can go places even we could not even though we are towing.

Joe the only thing you forgot to say is how great it is to have a wife like Kate who loves the life style. Not many wives I know would do this full time. We have a 12ft Aliner trailer that is all electric and my wife goes because she knows I love being outdoors. 50% of the time I go on 2 day saltwater fishing trips by myself. Now for the good news you guys are the best on KZbin! With your help on this video you convinced me that the 20ft Hymer is the way to go. We are young retired couple and have a 7lb Chi and we are going to try 4 to.six weeks on the road. We live in the biggest golf community in USA. It's called The Villages in central Florida. You guys would love it. It is 20 minutes away from the Ocala National Forest. We are also 45 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico! There are RV spots all along the river that leads out to the Gulf. It would be a great stop to visit us and driveway surf for a few nights. I'm a home chef like you wife! We have two golf carts that we can drive all ten miles of The Villages. Let us know! We'd love to host you. I would be a great way to repay you for all you taught us!

I do recall you mentioning that, however an external box mounted on rear of the van would allow you to store, anything with damp or with a potential odour out of the living space of the van. You might find this link useful, there is a company called Waco now owned by Dometic who sell what looks like a range of cool boxes! They are, sort of! They look like chunky cool boxes, however they are A/C 12/24 volt powered. They can be used as a fridge, or a freezer (-18 or-20c depending on the model) they also wifi controlled depending on the model. The fridge/freezer temperature is digitally controlled, and and the box fridge/freezer can be precisely set to the desired temperature. They even have two units with separate compartments one can be used as a fridge, the out as a freezer or both set to different tempetures. Here is the link, www.dometic.com/en-gb/uk/products/food-and-beverage/cool-boxes/powered-boxes. ( this would allow you to be off grid a little longer if you so desire )

Yeah I've always thought it's crazy having a sink in the kitchen AND a separate sink in the bathroom. Even tiny vans do this. Why?! Are people squeamish about using the kitchen sink for washing bathroom hands or something? For my custom build van I'm putting a portable toilet in a cupboard, and a shower in the middle of the floor just inside the sliding door. It'll use a curtain and shower tray built into the floor. I'll fill it with a piece of floor when not using it. This way, it takes up no space when I'm not using it.

Excellent video! I am building a moto van for my dirt bike with a shower and a bed. It is also a ProMaster 2500 window van, 15" shorter than yours. I am also not going to put in a toilet there, but I do want a shower because riding dirt bikes I get very dirty!I chose the window van because I can drive it in traffic like a car. The shower will be all the way in the back, on the driver's side, and it will have collapsible/foldable walls in order to save space and retain the good all-around visibility. The bed will have to be a foldable bench along the driver's side wall. It's going to be awesome!

I hope you get to see the Eclipse on Aug 21. Lots of places available. Check the weather and grab a seat. My family and friends are meeting in Albany OR. Madras OR is said too have great weather, right on the center line and half the farmers have turned acres over to dry camping spaces. Have fun.

Really enjoying your videos even more since you moved to Class B. My wife and I have talked about full-time but we are not there yet, but are thinking 1-2 month stints might be possible and using it for long weekends the rest of the yr. Thought Class C would be way to go, but now after watching your videos I want to explore the Class B option. Thanks for being willing to share your life on road.

funny she mentioned feeling sick if you're sleeping out of level. or "motion sickness" I have the same problem I thought it was just something weird about me, its like a disorientation that feels similar to motion sickness.I can be a little out of level but I try to orient the van preferably so my head is elevated and I'm tipped in towards the wall rather than out towards the edge of the bed.Otherwise I wake up over and over and just kinda feel like I'm sliding off.SOMEDAY I am going to add levelers,id love to just be able to push a button and adjust the vans level when parked.

I disagree with the comment to "report and destroy every troll". A viewer is a viewer, right. Hard to say what is in people's heads. Just don't engage. Rather, educate them. If you engage negative people it just fuels them for more ugliness. So keep on smiling Russos. Especially Kait because she has such a beautiful smile! To go public is to invite criticism. Celebrities learn to deal with it.

We typically leave those comments alone and don't bother responding. Many times, they get a chuckle out of me and Kait simply ignores them.

Hey Kait, Joe (Leo). Awesome job guys. Loved the live stream. Lots of great questions followed by some great responses. Way to communicate with your followers. Bummed I didn't get to see Leo weigh in although I did catch a short glimpse of him walking around. Joe you mentioned something about a doing a tour. Any chance you'll be posting perhaps an itinerary. Till next posting, stay safe. Big Fans from Texas Arnold and Josie (Chico/Hershey)

Love your videos and life style and you've really helped me a lot when we first got our class B. Ours is 24' and we've never had any problems in National parks or finding adequate parking. However, we do not do any urban camping, but have visited many urban areas and actually when we first got it we already had reservations at a Marriott Hotel in Rohnert Park, Ca and had no problem parking it there as well as all the wineries we visited in Sonoma County. We also love our nightly "navy showers" , but I'm not sure what your fresh water tank capacity is. I do love the European designs and I think the Hymer Aktiv is especially well done. The best advice you have given is for everyone to really shop and find what works for them. It took us two years of looking and we are well satisfied with our choice but boy, it was work! Looking forward to more of your travels and adventures!

That's great to hear that the longer van has been working out well for you! We sometimes miss the shopping aspect of finding a new rig, but yes, it's a lot of work to find the right one for you.

Well hello there! This was a great Q&A...and thank you for addressing my "low clearance" issues - I liked your answer bec as you know, Im rewatching every video you've done, and I came across the one where you guys are taking the Jeep up over some very rocky terrain (The Devils Stairs), and I was wondering if you guys missed adventures like that! Deff not with the Aktiv's low clearance! You reply to my question was logical! 👌🍻

We definitely miss being able to find a back road and just go exploring. We've talked about our next van being 4x4 but honestly, I would never want to take that over the type of terrain we took the Jeep. It'd be good to help with mud, snow or sand.
