IMO, INSIDER has a cleaner design. Werewords seems too cluttered with mechanics.

I find it hard to believe that reviewers of this game are ignorant of this publisher trying to get the license for this from OINK games' INSIDERS, being refused and then going ahead and making their own version by jamming it into their werewolf theme (which doesn't fit at all). At least a brief mention of INSIDERS was made at the end. But unfortunately because of all the marketing push behind BEZIER games, and a bunch of reviews barely mentioning INSIDERS, the small publisher OINK games is going to have their game copied (to a large extent) and overshadowed, forgotten by the bigger publisher so soon after releasing their game. Perfectly legal, but probably not right....

I actually I did comment about this right after it happened and below were my words. Also Oink Games did not publicly give all the information as to the discussions between Bezier and Oink. Ted did let this information out shortly there after. An article was written about it here. opinionatedgamers.com/2017/06/15/werewords-and-oink/ Being the only person to have reviewed both games I can say yes they are similar, but do have different feels. The fact that the Mayor (Master in Insider) has their own role really makes the game feel very different. Also having only a specific amount of questions gives it a different feel. Plus having more and additional roles like the werewolf, Minion, Beholder takes the Insider concept and designs it further In my opinion to focus on a different audience. I would say Insider should be in mass market stores, and Werewords in hobby stores. If I'm going to a party with people I don't know, I'm bringing Insider. If I'm going to a game group outing, I'm bringing Werewords. Werewords is to Insider as Spyfall Is to Chameleon. Similar games for different audiences.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply! Sorry to come off adversarial. Just really disappointed in the love werewords is getting and overshadowing Insiders. And given that Bezeir games approached Oink games to license it, were told no and then went ahead and published their version of it...just feels a bit too close for me. I do feel there are some differences, but when such a small, tight, simple game is essentially the same...hard not to be suspicious. And yes, I agree Werewords is different, but the core game is exactly the same.

@@DrHamishLove Dude and Insider is 20 questions. There are no original ideas. People get influenced from others. Oink should stop their complaining. They don't have a right to act like they own all ideas.
