Who'd thumbs down a video like this? People, I tell you. One wonders sometimes. Thanks for this video. I think I can pull this off even though I don't have a garage as long as I make sure I don't drop engine oil in my assigned parking space

Just an additional warning the torque on the oil filter cap is extremely important. That's why most Jeep owners do it themselves and not the minimum wage high school kid at the Jippy Quik Oil Change and Dog Wash. If you over torque the cap it can crack and that is a $300 part and will require the top half of the engine to come off to replace. Great video by the way. None of the "apologize for holding the camera in one hand" shaking blurry nausea. Well done.
@WeRmudfun2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment and input. It definitely would not take much to crack the the cap.

While having a bouncier and noisier ride than other vehicles the Jeep Wrangler does have a lot going for it in terms of accessibility for regular maintenance and interior roominess. And they are still available with manual transmission, a major plus in my book, and they are fun to drive. They are the original off-road SUV since 1941 and still going strong!

I just bought a new 17 leftover Rubicon Recon a few days ago with 4 free oil changes I'm surprised they told me 4months 4000 miles I'm old school with 3000 miles I like that the filter canister is on top vs my Rav4 on the bottom its always have oil left in it even with the provided drag spout with new filter is the filter upside down cleaner hopefully nothing worse than smelly burning oil on a hot engine
@WeRmudfun7 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the Rubi! They told us the same thing about the free oil changes, we chose to not take them up on their freebies. I find the filter setup up cleaner and easier to change.

5:00 a tip ive learned over the years is that in order to avoid that 'glub glub glub' from the bottle, you should pour it upside down with the handle facing the funnel instead of the opening for the can. only downside is it might be a little higher than normal

Good and informative video however there is a reason why the Fram filter is smaller, its because they have to make it different in someway to circumvent trade mark and patent laws. Canister filters are critical that they are the right size. I would only use original equipment filters.

No, the dealership didn't screwup an oil change, it was the delivery of the Wrangler to us where they went above and below to be the worst dealer Jeep has ever seen! We went straight to Chrysler about it, the General Manager went out of his way to correct the issue, but we still would never let them touch any vehicle we own. The Old Man EMU was the lift we went with last time and will look at again when the time comes. Send us pictures when you get it done, so we can see how it looks. If you are the first owner, prior to removing the oil filter cap, I use a small artist paint brush with a small touch of white paint and mark where the oil filter cap meets the filter housing ... that way i'm assured that I replace the cap to the original torqued position without using a torque wrench.... works for me !!

Hadn't done one on our Jeep yet and just assumed the oil filter is underneath. Glad to see it's on top like a Subaru. I do feel an oil change every 3000 is a waste of time and mostly money. There's no reason any vehicle won't go 5000 now, especially if when it even states that in the owners manual..... but whatever.
@WeRmudfun2 жыл бұрын
We like the filter on the top of the Jeep too. I was brought up old school on fluid changes. The 3000 mile change was mainly because the Jeep was brand new and we were going on a long trip. I have since FINALLY changed my ways and switched to full synthetic oil and go a lot longer between changes. 😀
