Jonas is a genius. It's amazing that no matter how many times I have seen/heard this both the MET and Paris version and know what is going to happen, I am pulled right into his emotions and end up in floods of tears. He is so utterly convincing. It is heartbreaking. 😢 No wonder they call him the best tenor in the world. ❤❤❤❤

Apart from the beauty of his exceptional voice, he is a great actor too, best ever Werther and credit must also be given to the soprano who gave a memorable performance.

If there was an opera special composed for a singer than it was this opera for Kauffmann. Oh ! when Massenet could hear this. I am 68years old and heard many singers, but he's the best ever Hans Hofland

Imagine the disappointment when the sound dropped out ... I was there on with my grandma on her 89th birthday. We were so into it, I had never seen or heard this opera, and Jonas had us hanging on every note. Having to watch him sing those beautiful lines about redemption, without knowing how the music sounded was torture! My wise grandma told me on the way home, "well, when things like this happen, it makes it MEMORABLE. Now we'll remember this opera forever!" But it all turned out for the best ... the world would probably not have this clip right now otherwise, and I've watched it over and over ... and the swell of redemption is even more beautiful than I hoped. Thank you met opera for putting this up for us!
