+David Fair I get what you mean by it. Some people label them to be these incompetent "little people". Opposed to being witty and moral behaving just like any adult could be. Wes Anderson is an intellectual director and writer, for most thinkers they learn to make a whole for accepting.

+S&S Pictures Missed the point, people tend to dehumanize - children, kind of like the opposite of how we anthropomorphize animals and even objects. Yes they are children, but children are developing humans with developing emotions and a lack of experience. Their feelings aren't any less valid, they're just contained in a person learning how to deal with them. Many adults tend to dismiss this and unwittingly cause harm.

Man when people try to villainize this movie and say things like 'it's not appropriate for children to act like that' and laugh because it awkward and weird it makes me so upset. It could mean that in some cases, but in other cases it just means they are bad at speaking or are in fact less intelligent (it's not like you are more eloquent the dumber you are). There are a lot of really intelligent people that say intelligent things without stuttering. Some people have a really high verbal intelligence and are able to speak quickly while also thinking about what they are saying at the same time

Stutters are actually proven to be from over correction as a child. Ask any speech therapist. In Wes' case his father was very overbearing and considered him a disappointment....interestingly, Owen Wilson had a parallel upbringing but speaks famously well. Both are intelligent and wrote brilliant films together. I think it's a sign of a sensitive child. Sensitive children grow into stmpathetic, thoughtful adults. "Intelligent" is too simple a word in my opinion.

I loved Moonrise Kingdom. And most recently, the Isle of Dogs. Wes Anderson is probably one of the most original film makers working today. It's his sense of humor and originality that separate his films from what Hollywood puts out. It's too bad we don't have more original film makers out there. The Hollywood machine seems incapable of doing anything more than remakes. It's sad really.

If I see a Wes Anderson scene for the first time before seeing the movie, I am then obsessed with a desire to see the movie. If I see a Wes Anderson scene after seeing the movie, I want to see the movie again. Stock standard movies are rarely that to the people who create them. They're not just gigs, or projects. They can be massive enterprises, the pressure to succeed largely commensurate with the huge amounts of money being invested by studios. But with that said, audiences view actioners, rom-coms or buddy movies as stock standard, because they play to a formula. You'll perhaps be entertained for the full two hours, but then you're done. With auteurs' movies, one viewing is never enough, not just they may have an established record of being an auteur. If you watch a Coen Brothers movie, the script often demands a second look, purely to take in all the nuance. With Wes Anderson, you can also build in the richness of the art direction and design. These people create new universes, not with CGI, but with story and detail.

I remember being aware of the Life Aquatic's reputation (53% approval on Rotten Tomatoes) and trying to avoid it; then I gave it a change and surpassed my expectations.

The Life Aquatic is my #3, I think. I was shocked when I saw that people don't seem to like it much. I thought it was brilliantly hilarious and deeply moving. My least favorite is The Darjeeling Limited. It's not a bad film, though. It just didn't grab me.

Wes Anderson's movies are like the good comedy Woody Allen movies of the past. Anderson is the new Woody Allen. Now when you want to see a good, lighthearted and funny movie, Anderson's movies are the ones you see. I saw Rushmore and liked it somewhat and saw 2 other Anderson movies that I got bored with and there are others that I have yet to see. But this one, to me is my favorite. The story reminds me of what it was like for me when I was the same age as the 2 main characters in this great movie. That the 2 young actors were not professionals really worked for this movie. I only saw this for the first time a couple of days ago and I watched it a few more times since. Great movie.

So true about 12 year old romance.. it really is that way, you still have an underdeveloped brain but understand that you are feeling something so it turns into this fantasy like a cartoon or ferry tale. Thats why its important for parents to not let kids act on those emotions until they are much older.
