Our boat( monohull) was originally designed with a cable halyard, we replaced it with a new line without cable and discovered we were chaffing through the new line. We ended up going back to the cable. I’m not sure if that helps, but you might look at adding a partial cable system where you seem to chaff at full sail.

Wonderful sailing. For all the C S& N fans out there, I strongly recommend you take a listen to The Little River Band & check out their greatest hits. I guarantee you’ll know at least one of their breakthrough songs that found fame in America… “Reminiscing”. Australia was loving this band when C S & N were gaining popularity in USA. These 2 bands are always compared with one another, because they compliment each others work across this globe. Happy listening. Please get back to me with your thoughts. We love music therapy in this house. 💗

Kirsten Neuschafer was able to win the Golden Globe round the world race by using Wing on Wing primarily. She lost some speed at the final stretch because she lost a pole but Wing on Wing won her the race ! I must say though, sailing live on board life style has gotten a lot easier with the advent of better solar power , especially the batteries , the advent of great 12v fridges, a lot of things have gotten easier. I can remember Delos having to run their Generator close to 247 to keep up ! They had to replace it in South Africa ! Ask them !

Oh wow did she? That’s amazing. When it works the configuration is pretty nice. Living aboard now is certainly not what it used to be. We think about those whole sailed even without any motors. The Pardys sailed over 28000 nautical miles without them. Blows my mind, and we have so much to keep us comfortable and remote for so long.
@craigc.4942 ай бұрын
@@WEsail I agree, especially under sail entering port. I asked many questions of the Pardys when working with them selling books and at silent auction with Bob Bitchin raising $$ for kids local sailing program. So humbling. Guess we are all fans. Happy for your great passage.

@brianc49172 ай бұрын
There are a few issues, one being how you attach the headsail to the car. This distance is too far off the mast. Second, the turning block is too big. Look at something like Custom Series 30 halyard block from ronstan. Some use a piece of line that tights as the sail is raised and loosens as it is lowered so that the battens lay flat when it is on the boom. You have to reduce the angle at which the halyard is coming out of the mast so it doesn't rub. The closer to the track the better or check out the Doyle sails system kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHLIm5RpmLuJbpIsi=c13CNgab6c7BSx6o Oh, one more thing make sure you pump up Erica's Wing to full pressure (there should be a number next to the value) it will make Erica's winging even better! Don't hate me I'm jealous of you both!
@WEsail2 ай бұрын
OMG that is such a slick system!! It’s very much like the Karver Gaff Hook, maybe a bit better!!! Only problem is that you have to have THEIR sails… anyways, thanks very much for the information, we really appreciate you taking the time to message us like this!! Cheers!!

@Gbesase12 ай бұрын
Could it be the sheeve up at the top? It’s plastic, and if chipped or cracked it will chafe your halyard.
@stephhart78932 ай бұрын
Quickly, and from a bit of a distance... from what I see, and past experiences, don't think the chafe is from the sheave - tho that's possible - looks like the oddly large triangular cheek pieces - the sides to a block that hold everything together - are what is causing chafe. And again, from my experiences, that is more likely to chafe worse as the block gets closer to the mashed. YES, one more instance to ask - how could designer/ builder do something like this... the archeology of boat life - that block is quite likely not original. Look at the cheeks, that might be yr problem.

@@WEsail I use a good Koss headphone, on my Mac. You lose all trebbles with your action cam/reflex cam. It is very clear on last Delos’s video! Each time your gear is used, the trebbles disappear. No issues with Bryan’s gear. Same thing happens When you overdub your voice on top of your video, there is a clear change of tone. Overdub voice is clear, action cam sounds as if a Hipass filter is on… All your S turn into F! 😬 One last thing, pay attention to your « P’s» and « T’s » When you overdub, you speak a little too close to your Microphone, (is it a Shure Sm7B?) So they turn into small detonations in the ears. Set it around 30/40 cm away from your mouth 👌and use a Compressor to even your audio signal in final editing. I love your videos, you are living the dream so thanks for sharing it! 😉 Best regards, keep it up! Al.
