sounds about right. The only partially accurate part of Disneys personality that shines through is maybe he was hard on those he employed. He was known for not being the most encouraging boss just because he had high expectations. It's been twisted to be evil, but its still there. But as a stand-in for the Disney Corporation? Yeah, its sounds about right.

@@HeadGodoftheGodCouncil I have never read anything about him being a possible nazi sympathizer...Even from his ditractors. So thats a new one for me. if your talking about anti-semitism claims, well he was honored in 1955 by B'nai B'rith as Man of the Year, which would be weird if he is an anti-semite since the organization is a Jewish organization that actively combats anti-semitism. as for racist, the best counter I have is Walt Disney campaigned for an honorary academy award for James Baskett, the first black man to ever receive such a award. James Baskett happened to be the star of Song of the South. Which only leaves me with the conclusion if he was racist, he was really bad at being one. There are other arguments to both as well, but this is comment, not a lecture.

Just a couple of things: The Frog and Pig show line is also a play on the disrespectful phrase "dog and pony show", to talk about cheap theatrics. For the part about "strings", the word Muppet is actually a portmanteau of marionette (with strings), and puppet(without). Their bottom is controlled by hand, but their arms, and some other parts were often controlled with sticks or strings.

I think I understand the reason they mentioned puppet on a string in Jim's verse. Notice how they mentioned how he's gonna need "Avenging" right after that? Well, in the trailer for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, the song that plays is an edited Pinochio's theme, signifying that Ultron is no longer a puppet (as in a tool), as he cut off his "strings" and started to think for himself. It's the closest I can think of that relates to Stan Lee's work. Thumbs up if you think I have the right idea. Coincidentally, they mentioned "vision" shortly after, Vision is the name they gave to the body created for J.A.R.V.I.S., the AI who helped them stop Ultron.

Something to consider... the actor who played Mr. Hooper was someone impacted by the Hollywood Blacklists / House Unamerican Investigations / McCarthy Investigations. The company producing Sesame Street (Pre Children's Television Workshop) didn't want him because of that but one of the people in charge of casting DID. The company relented basically said 'this is on you if it goes poorly', and he was hired. He was immensely loved. I literally grew up with Sesame Street, we were born the same year. I still remember when Mr. Hooper died. I still get sad at that moment. But they helped us kids learn how to deal with the loss of someone who simply isn't coming back again.... ever. So that Put You Out To Pasture line was worse than you thought: it was like saying not only will Henson be dead, but everyone will just be told he was sent away, but never to have the dignity of letting people know what REALLY happened to him.

I always really appreciated the acting and directing choices of Henson's first verse more than the actual lyrical content and rapping style/flow. Which is to say: I think that's what they focused on. I liked this better than trying to shoe-horn in uncharacteristic "hard gangsta rap" aspects into someone who it was wrong for (like they did with Mr. Rogers, being an earlier season). Henson's interaction with Kermit was really nice, especially where you can see that he isn't trying to ventriliquize (is that a word?) but continues speaking all of the lines Kermit delivers. Them dancing in the background was just sweet, Kermit acting out signing a page was really well done, and I love how he walks off frame in Henson's second verse. That all just felt RIGHT for the character. Also, I'm disappointed you didn't tackle Disney's "juggernaught of stacking knots unstoppably," because I've never really figured out an explanation for that line I was satisfied with. Like, the Juggernaught (Juggernaut?) is a Marvel character, and he's unstoppable, sure; but why are you stacking knots? Is that really a flex?

The "I broke Ferrigno" line is a reference to the fact that Lou Ferrigno (who played the Hulk) refused to do any appearances with Bill Bixby, the actor who played David (don't know why he was called David in the show rather than Bruce) because he didn't want to ruin the illusion of the show for the kids that loved it. But Stan got them both to do a special appearance for some kid for something like the Make a Wish Foundation or something similar to it, I think. Ferrigno was a wrestler before that and fun facts: he played a Security Guard in the 2003 Hulk movie and did the voice of the Hulk in the 2008 MCU Hulk movie with Edward Norton.

ERB made an insanely clever Biblical reference to the end of days and a brilliant lyrical foreshadowing to that sunset at noon line. Amos 8:9 states: “In that day,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight. This becomes ironic, as both men are then interrupted by the founder of the ‘morally purest’ company of them all-Walt Disney. However, his entrance suggests he is synonymous with the creative “Antichrist”. As per the Biblical verse in Revelations 20:1 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.” Disney appears the background goes completely dark, and there are explosions. Plus Disney is holding keys

Also this has one of the scariest endings to me for an ERB not only is their no "who one? Who's next?" But it's also kinda symbolic that after Disney came in saying he owned them he ended them of what they were known for.

Two things: "Frog and pig show" is also a play on "dog and pony show", a slightly archaic phrase referring to something that's simple spectacle without substance. "The Four will always be Fantastic, the Hulk will always be Incredible" is actually a back-handed compliment. To illustrate how "timeless" Lee's work is, Henson name-dropped two of the worst Marvel movies ever.

Doozer sticks were actually ground up radishes made into building materials. The Fraggles would eat them. The Doozers didn't mind since they LOVED building. and the Fraggles eating them would clear more space for the Doozers to build more.

You missed the bar about Disney being"The Juggernaut" which is a Marvel character. Also love the stretch. They are evil. Lol hell they ruined Marvel and Star Wars.

you could also argue that the steamboat line is another shot at disney only caring about industry cause of the engine in the boat and rather then high quality craftmanship of a sailboat or a ship steamships can pretty much look like anything and still move

The reference when Walt Disney says he owns this whole series is because the Walt Disney Company owns Maker Studios (now Disney Digital), which produces Epic Rap Battles of History, just thought I would let those who didn't know that in the chats . AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK WE SKEEM .

This battle was made soon after Disney bought Maker Studios, which ERB was part of at the time. It's probably how they got away with using Marvel's trademarks, in fact. ERB only went independent shortly before Season 6, if I recall correctly. That's why they've got a Patreon now.

The guy who played Mr Hooper on Sesame Street died in reality so they did a special episode about death. If you see the clip of Maria telling Big Bird that Mr Hooper isn’t coming back it’s from that episode. This was back in 83 IIRC.

Clarifying the Comics Code bar in Stan Lee's first verse. The Comics Code Authority was a group imposed by the government to force comic books, if they wanted to be a part of printed media after WWII, to make sure their content is considered safe for all audiences since it comic books were one of those things that adults of the time thought was evil and could corrupt kids, and all comic publishers were bound by this if they wanted to get things out. Then one issue of Spider-Man had imagery of one of the characters abusing drugs, but the Comics Code Authority was like "No way you're publishing that without seal!" In response, Stan Lee had the book published without the seal, and this led to more and more comics pushing the envelope of what could be expressed in their pages, until the Comics Code became defunct.

cool little bit from the behind the scenes; you know that shot at the end with all the artists? that's not just digital copying.... they had someone put on different outfits and film her drawing for every unique artist- then just combined them for the shot. every unique artist in that scene is a separate shot.

Something to note iirc, is that when Disney says to gaze upon his empire of joy, all of the boards in front of the artists have different company logos on them due to Disney essentially owning all of entertainment media.
