What I’ve done with 2 part epoxy mixing is to make parallel even lines of part A and B, to ensure relatively equal volumes of both, and to ensure there is enough volume for them to react properly.

Gotta love the jobs where it's just broken pieces in the case. Get to do a little detective work. Great repair Wes, the epoxy might actually be a better bond than the original melt-in.

Your truck's workshop is wonderful. I like your attitude. Let's stop and I'm starting to repair it. It's cool, but I'm not giving up.

Wes, as a reminder, please do a video on the repair/replacement of a broken clarinet tenon. Thanks

Awesome tool Wes. The best bet is to replace the pad when doing tone hole leveling and re seating posts. Less aggravation on your part.

Do You have a video on how to refinish the wood on a clarinet. Minor scuffs, roughness, white spots, trade mark repainting, or pinning?

Very informative as always. Seems like a much better alternative than just replacing the post. I have had a rash of broken hinge rods on left hand clarinet levers this season. Particularly the F#/C#. Most times the threaded tip of the rod gets broken off into the recessed post. I’m guessing this jig would still work if you pulled the post, drill out the broken portion and then refit the post. A much better option than scrounging in the junkyard for a replacement post or having to wait for a replacement. Thoughts?

Here I’ve been on a streak of frozen flute keys, but yes, many more frozen keys this year.

Guessing since alignment is so very critical with musical instruments for them to seal properly, the jig is a must have item. What other type of post other than a press-in is there? Say if the hole were worn so badly that replacement was necessary to repair this?
@wesleemusicrepair9820
@wesleemusicrepair9820 2 жыл бұрын
This one was press fit, the other style is threaded. If a mounting hole is too worn, you have to make insert and redrill to mount post again.

The post rod most likely broke because the outer post broke loose of the body, giving the key great mechanical advantage over the still-fixed end of the rod. If the rod hadn't broken, it could have possibly pulled the inner post out

Wes I do enjoy your video. This looks like a repair that would cost close to what the clarinet is worth. Am I wrong? Maybe repair pricing is less in Mississippi? Thanks, Ruben

Not even close. This is every day work, a full drill out is on the more serious end, but frozen rods are regularly seen.

Why is it ten yards long? Wouldn't you have done the exact same thing with a two inch jig and a regular bit?

I'm guessing its A universal jig. Probably needs to be that long for a different instrument.
