I've been going to the driving range a lot recently. The farthest I can hit a ball is about 225 yards (675 feet). But that's hitting a small, stationary ball with a big head iron driver. Now, compare that to hitting a 95mph baseball with a wooden bat and making it go 450 feet -- you need some SERIOUS power for that! Great video as always Wesley.
@yungcheesehead69235 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the 95 mph coming in helps the hitter. It is easier to hit homers when somebody is throwing than off a tee.
@wildbum035 жыл бұрын

That Manny Ramirez bomb was against K-Rod (a quality closer with that funky delivery). Not a Boston fan, just a fan of Manny - followed his career from afar since he entered the bigs with the Indians. My first memory of him was hitting a game winning blast against another quality closer, Dennis Eckersley. You can see Dennis follow the ball's trajectory while mouthing "WOW" 😂

I've watched a fair number of balls fly out into Eutaw street in person. But nothing, home run spectacle wise, in Baltimore history compares to Ken Griffey Jr blasting one into the warehouse on the fly. Many people have bounced one and hit the warehouse, only Jr has smacked one to hit it on the fly. Chris Davis has probably done it in BP, in fact I'd be shocked if he hadn't with how far he used to blast them. He consistently smashed them 490+ in BP and I saw him rake a few well over 500. But they all went to center.

Hey, Phillies fan here, and the Harper home run did not actually leave the stadium. You would have to put it OVER Ashburn Alley's concession stands, beyond the far fencing, in order for it to leave the ballpark. Citizen's Bank Park has small field dimensions, but a large concourse.
