In MLB if a manager of either team has a problem with the officiating and feels there was a call blown against them that they feel could effect the outcome of the game, they have the ability to call a "Protest". This is so right. The 1st strike was in the left-handed batter's box. The Ump called it a strike only after Lawrie headed to 1st base in advance of the call itself. It was all about the Ump having and enunciating control over the situation. Then the 2nd pitch was going to be a strike no matter what. The ump should've been immediately retired.
