Glide along one of the Jurassic Coast's most beautiful beaches before and after a huge 1000 tonne cliff collapse severs the beach in two! The film transitions between two scenes shot in September 2020 and January 2023, shot at similar angles and heights in dramatic Cinematic style.
These 150 foot high cliffs will never be quite the same again, ever evolving in the hands of nature's stone mason!
The Jurassic Coast is so called because the rocks famously harbour the remains of dinosaur and sea creatures from the Jurassic period. Many fantastic specimens have been found all along this part of the coast of England, United Kingdom.
At 10:53 Am on January 18th 2023, another massive cliff collapse occurred. Although, part of the natural coastline erosion process, the number of these cliff falls has sharply increased over the last few years. This has been attributed to higher than average rainfall, no doubt attributable to climate change. Remarkably, and especially for this time of day, nobody was killed or injured, largely because a snow shower had put people off from venturing out.
Despite the clear warning notices, and the very obvious consequences, the British public ignore the closure signs and decide to clamber over the huge debris pile. This, even though further falls are likely. The drone footage shows the precarious nature of these cliffs. Rocks are often dislodged by the humble Seagull, let alone complete collapses.
Surprisingly, our drone's camera has revealed at other locations, how after the Winter storms, much of the debris is washed out to sea, and the beach naturally re-opens itself to the public!!
