Redwood is such a fun material to work with! It’s very light when dry, very flexible, and smells amazing as you mentioned. However, the same ability to repel insects and molds makes it expel paint, stains, and unfortunately clear coats as well. I use it as deck board and railing lumber here in California, and we always advise our clients to leave it raw and not stain or paint it, as it will ruin the deck. It’s always a shame to see a project like that not turn out as perfectly as you would like, but it gives you a fun reminder of the cool properties of redwood! Always love the videos! Keep up the incredible work!

Yo Nate! You should get your ledpot permantly conected to a "smart" outlet that is voice controlled and set The trigger phrase to "Ooonee daay" or get siri/alexa (or who ever always listen to you) have that phrase as a trigger for powering on that outlet! 😁

when we were making surfboards with redwood we had to saturate the wood first with straight laminating resin maybe two or more coats before we could laminate with the fiberglass and laminating resin, after cure then we could use the sanding resin , sanding smooth and then the gloss resin for the final wet sand and polish. the wood had to have time to soak up the resin, a quick resin application would often bubble or gas out to create the bubbles or the lighter areas you saw.

Haha, love the onsie. You can’t really appreciate the redwoods until you visit a redwood forest in person. Star Wars VI forest moon of Endor was filmed in a redwood forest. So if you ever want to visit the moon of Endor, make a trip to the west coast sometime.

1:07 Marlin Baits, you're right that nobody else really cares when you get up in the morning. However, you mentioning details like that makes the video feel like a genuine human interaction and conversation which I have not witnessed any other KZbinr successfully pull off. Don't be to hard on yourself. What you see as a downside of your videos is one of the reason why I keep watching your videos.

I want to make a Tenkara style fishing pole, out of local cane, for my grandson and I've been watching videos. This one guy also made a lure and he used COFFEE instead of Baking Soda. The Coffee had been ground to a powder. He used a saw and cut grooves down thru the Lure until it looked like a comb. Then he filled in the space with coffee and set it with glue. It created a very nice striped look. Thanks for the peeks. I liked that T!

Redwood is amazing. My family were loggers and carpenters. I have tons of old pictures from camps back 125 years ago. Redwood is naturally fire resistant, which is funny since they can't reproduce without forest fires. It is naturally resistant to insects and rot. I have stood at the base of the General Sherman, and I can tell you, where lighting hit it 300 ft. up and burned off the rest........I can only imagine that it was at least half again as tall. And mysterious doesn't cover it.

You should stick an LED light behind the lip and try some night time fishing and see if you can catch anything. Maybe look into some transparent paints as well as maybe a soft lure clear enough for light to pass through or just glow in the dark. Would be neat to see any of these.

Hi Mr. Marling. I was wondering if I could send you a swimbait I made for you to put it in a bonus fishing segment. I started watching your videos about three years ago and that inspired me to make my own. I now have my own lure business at the age of 13 and it couldn’t have been done without you.
