You should see her now! She’s improved so much . This was when she first joined outta nowhere due to complications with Ruth Brown. I agree this performance is quite messy but I think it resembles Holliday a lot too! Haters- check out her Palladium Performance and anything recent ! Also I think amber is FABULOUS, I thjnk marisha (here) is amazing and Karen Mav is too but MOYA ANGELA is the best Effie we’ve ever saw😭😍

Trixiah Gaming can’t say much but Ruth Brown was supposed to be one of ambers alternates but her and Dreamgirls had a fall out so marisha had to join with about a weeks notice around the time of this

Gabbi Twin this is when she first joined the cast. Her performances now PALES in comparison to this. Also, it mirrors the character. Effie was a mess

Think about the storyline in the musical. Effie is singing through emotional desperation. So the fact that she’s a bit pitchy at times makes the performance truly authentic, because when you’re emotionally desperate, the last thing you’ll be able to do perfectly is be on pitch for every single note.
