Snap, I'm 47 and still not over this, almost more than Euro 96 too. One thing I've always struggled with is David Platt scoring a header in extra time which, even by old offside rules, should have stood. Plus I think we also had a very good penalty appeal turned down. Harsh! 😭

Wow! Alan Green and Mike Ingham had been commentating longer than I thought when I came across them in 1996 with 5Live. Legends! Watched this game in the Gambia and England had a better team but were just unlucky.

I was 8... watched it in spain with my dad in a bar... i remember that Lineker goal like it was yesterday.. I've never ever felt pure elation like that since....the whole bar erupted like a volcano 😂...it feels good to think about that one moment in time

Do you know of a recording of English commentary for the 1990 Argentina vs Italy World Cup semifinal? Every version I find of that game has Spanish commentary, or none (FIFA+)

Many years before , Andres Brehme (RIP) was asked by a foreign journalist did he think England would have won the WC if they got through in 1990, he said he had thought about that question many times..he thought yes, the Argentine team were really very lucky and frankly woeful, they did not win a single corner in the final and that England team had high quality throughout..Its not English bullshit when you hear this argued...Brehme would not have just said that...
