Skip to 7:59 for videos of me operating
This is a great yard. I was so surprised at how many old trucks they still had: 234, 236, 282, and 264. They also had way more '00 Minis than I had expected. In fact, they only had 2 CNG/LNG ellipticals in the whole yard!
I heard somewhere that all the '00 diesel Minis would be replaced this summer, but with 9 left, it doesn't look like it. I was even talking to an employee who said all the old Petes and Volvo FLs wouldn't be replaced until about 1-2 years from now. The guy also told me that the average life span of a garbage truck is 7 years. Well, many of the trucks in this yard have been running twice as long as that!
I hope you like that little trash can "graveyard" I found in the back of their smaller lot. They had some other nice Ottos and SSIs that I didn't get a chance to take pictures of.
What I also found interesting was that they were letting people operate the old Minis. I have always dreamed of doing that (because of their noise) but I didn't know they would have them out. 282 was the best one out of all, not only because it had a deep growl, but also because it blew smoke every time I revved it! It was awesome. I wished I had operated it more, but I didn't want to get yelled at by all the parents in line for not giving their 2 year-olds a turn.
Hope you guys enjoy!
