What an amazing piece. I've served in Afghanistan and Iraq for my country and I was proud to serve with the American soldiers. RIP to all who gave their lives for their country. Brothers to the end.

This is old Airman served during the early stages of Vietnam in remote site Intel. I did not serve in-country. My particular specialty was stationed in other sites. I thank you for your service. My family has served since The American Revolutionary War where my distant paternal grandfather fought with the Virginia 9th Line at Germantown and Brandywine. I have friends, Marine Corps and Army, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq. God Bless you.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours, sincerely and respectfully, Abraham Lincoln 1864

What a beautiful hymn! This rendition ranks very favorably with the USNA Glee Club's rendition of "Eternal Father Strong to Save." Thanks so much for posting.

Amazingly well-written and equally well performed piece! Oh, and the note on the one midshipman in the group... The service academies often send a few cadets/midshipmen to each other's schools for a semester. Makes for fun pranks during Beat Army/Air Force/Navy weeks, but there's a deep respect for each other, regardless of rivalries.

@EMT308 The midshipman was participating in the inter-academy exchange program for fall semester. She was in my son's cadet company. Go Army, Sink Navy!! :)

@Qedia From wikipedia "Glee Club" "A glee club is a musical group or choir group, historically of male voices but also of female or mixed voices, which traditionally specializes in the singing of short songs-glees-by trios or quartets. The first named Glee Club was founded in Harrow School, in London, England, in 1787."

I'm assuming these are either military people in training... That would explain why they have the best cut offs I have ever heard. When they finish a verse they have perfect timing, which is hard to do.

Great song. My men's chorus just got to sing this (among other things) in the Capitol rotunda. Talk about acoustics! Btw, what's up with the one midshipman in a USMA glee club chorus? And I have to say it because I saw the pro army comment further down: Go Navy! Beat Army!
