So important to our youth to be able to participate, and learn our cultural ways...too much damage has been done or striped or taken away by the public and boarding schools. Out youth need to feel proud of who they are as indigenous people and to have no restraints or interference from outside forces...establishing our own schools and teaching our youth our own values is the most important step we as a community has accomplished.

The day we sang this on canoe journey was probably my most memorable day for me

That was really moving. I'm Cowlitz and I haven't got to go on one yet. But you all took my breath away right before I started weeping.

What I hear is "Every day and every night I pray and pray for you. I love and miss you, sister come home. Please God, please God, bring her home." I could be mistaken but that's what I hear. Someone post up the correct lyrics if that's wrong.
