That was GREAT! Seriously -- I was riveted through the whole thing, and I'm an adult in my late 30's who has seen many professional musical productions in my life. What I especially loved, apart from the wonderful dancing, was the facial expressions, focus, and energy from every single guy.

I have done this show a few times and seen many productions, and this one gets So Much right---great reproductions of the original choreography, really good costumes (best I have seen), Okay sets. The biggest fault in all the videos I have seen of this production so far, is the lighting--so many of the scene and numbers need a more intimate atmosphere, and they are over-lit. Only complaint so far. Great job to all!

I wonder if there's a provision when authorizing a performance that WSS must be performed exactly as in the original Broadway production in 1957. So many of the poses and choreography seems like the film, which basically followed the play. Does anyone know if subsequent performances have to do Robbins choreography?
@jimsalisbury37957 жыл бұрын

Ummmm, just a word of warning...If you do the original choreography or even parts of it from the movie or the original stage productions, you could get into big trouble. ONLY sanctioned Robbins choreographers who have permission from the estate can teach and do the original stuff. It is creative property and if you copy choreography from the movie, you can get nailed. I was in the European Broadway Tour (as Maira) and the late Alan Johnson who was a Robbins choreographer, taught us the whole show as Robbins created it. That is why we were billed as "The Original". If you are doing choreography that is original and you are discovered it could mean a fine. I know most people think high schools and community theaters can't get in trouble, but they can. So, be careful when you decide to lift original choreography or staging that you do not have permission to use in your production.
@THATBILLMOORE6 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure the Stratford program secured all the appropriate permissions they needed. They spend a lot of money securing rights to the shows they do.
@codyfinger46304 жыл бұрын

Ah no it's well meaning but ultimately under par cause you can't magic up 15 years of jazz ballet training in amateur dancers.band are great.
