Love this cove. Only thing that sucks is the over mile walk to the cliff carrying 8 cases of beer. I go almost every year. Jump off the big cliff to the left. That’s a rush!

Be careful. I have been Freediving the lake for 32 years. There is a hidden boulder below the waterfall. Also, the water below the 60-80 ft cliff is very shallow. There are frequently hidden trees etc resting on the bottom.

I was at the lake 7-19-2019 and the waterfall was a trickle. So disappointing! The lake is super warm. Didn’t even cool you off. But, I still love that lake. That’s why I make the 3hr drive every year!

You guys are bad ass. Bastards Cove was "founded" in the early 90s and named by one of my buddies. Teachers were always calling us "bastards" for our hell raising and refusal to conform. The name stuck. We always used to hang at the cove and it became our cove. You could drive right up to the cove and it was a perfect party spot. I'm guessing there is a WVU connection that lead you there. Keep on rocking young bastards, there are some people trying to change the name to Pirates Cove which is extra lame. There were never pirates, only bastards.
