We can't wait we are heading down that way for our vacation this year.

We did the Olson fire tower and the Canyon Rim Road today and it was a blast! Thanks Jon for making us aware of places like this. My wife and I have been coming to the Dolly Sods / Canaan Valley area to vacation for more than 15 years, but did not know about this great place to go wheeling and see new beautiful sights. Another 4x4 driver we met told us about the Canaan Loop Road, and said it was longer and more challenging than the Canyon Rim Road. They said our Jeep would make it though. They also said they were going to a “Skyway” road/trail later today… got to do some research on where that is.

That’s awesome you did Canyon Rim! Canaan is definitely more longer and maybe a bit more difficult that is where we camped the second night. The road across the sky I believe it’s called, is the gravel road through Dolly Sods. I’m sure if you’re familiar with that area, you’ve been on that road maybe just haven’t heard it called that.

You’re right, I never heard it called that. But we have camped at Red Creek Campground on Dolly Sods for years, and love watching sunrises at Bear Rocks. Dolly Sods is our happy place. There are still so many hiking trails up there we have not yet done. We will definitely be back. Thanks for the info on the Canaan Loop Road! Is it suitable for an off road camping trailer?

@laurenhoward8397 I think you’ll be fine with the trailer. Shouldn’t be any need to back up or turn around. There are several creek crossings and some small rocks and ruts but if you made it through Canyon Rim you’re fine!

Another awesome video! Are you planning to be at Keystone Off road Fest?

Thank you! I’ve never been to that, don’t know anything about it. I’ll be at All Breeds Jeep Shown in July

I think this year is the first year for it. It is June 29th in Jacobus outside of York. It is looking like it is going to be a good time. I think there is info about it on the Pennsylvania Overlanders fb group event section.

Why do you think that shock mount failed on the JT? I have a JT, sort of wondering if there is something I need to watch out for, or beef up. Seems like a fairly mild trail.
@DirtRoadTherapy5 ай бұрын
It was on the XJ and it failed because all Josh had was a 110v HF welder. They’re properly burned in now 🤘🏼

@@DirtRoadTherapy Thanks! I was making dinner while watching this, apparently missed that key detail. Canaan Loop is a nice little trail, did it about a year ago.

Where are the falls on Canyon Rim Road? Can someone give me coordinates?
@DirtRoadTherapy5 күн бұрын
This should get you close (39.1074974, -79.5705233) there is a camp site and a poorly marked but fairly obvious (if you’re looking for it) hiking trail right near that.
