Hi Scotty, sorry for not replying sooner. Sounds like you had a good time, wherever you look round Holmfirth you can see where they did all the filming which is great to see. We understand Cleggy is buried near Compo so we will be going back on a nice sunny day, probably next year now, to check it out then get some fish and chips at eat them down by the river near Nora Batty's house. Interesting fact about Bill Owen...his first "showbiz" job was as a "yellowcoat" at the actual holiday camp that was used in Hi-deHi. Warners, Dovercourt Bay, on the Essex coast. It's now a housing estate.

Church always made Compo nervous; can only imagine how uncomfortable he has been in the church yard. Should be better now he's been joined recently by his old friend Clegg to make him feel more supported.

I loved BILL Owen in last summer wine he mad us laugh. The only trouble is the coach to the place only jiven two hours there. They stoped at the mill for adout three hours which we didn't what to go to so I never put flowers at BILL OWENS GRAVE .its a beautiful place to go .there's even shops there and a hotel. THE cafe is realy nice thats if you like country theams. 10 out of 10 for the place to see.

An interesting piece of history about this area: In 1852, the Digley Reservoir wasn't there and it was Bilberry Reservoir only. By the late 1840's, the dam of the Bilberry Reservoir was severely under maintained by the company who built it and then after a long period of heavy rainfall at the stroke of midnight, the embankment collapsed, killing 81 people and causing massive damage to Holmfirth and the valley below.

Hi Barnsley M D, nice to hear from you. Must admit it is unusual to have two headstones but on closer inspection we understand one is from his family and one from his fans. We just think it's great that his green wellies are sat there in concrete and you cannot help but smile as you look down at his grave, we are sure it would of been what Compo wanted.
