Gotta disagree with Ric Bucher's take. Russ has altered his game over the years. He did it when PG-13 got to OKC and Westbrook helped to elevate his game to MVP levels. He did it in Houston by elevating their Level of play after Kapela was traded. HIS Teams have a 75% Winning record when He's Averaged a Triple-Double. He just needs to win more in the Playoffs. He's not really 'chasing stats' if his Teams are winning 75% of those games in which He's averaging those Triple-doubles. Stop ✋ with All this CLOWN🤡 'chasing stats/stat-stuffing' talk.

Russ's mvp triple double was more efficient than his others and he lead the league in scoring and he had the most in a season all time. His other triple double seasons were simply not as good, it's not that people don't care about it as much as they say. His case for mvp that year was overwhelming despite his team record. I might get heat for this statement. Russell Westbrook is an all-time great player. Former MVP and triple double machine. Also Acho's saying Russ doesn't lead to wins is false. He lead OKC to the 6th seed by himself the year after KD left. Also the years Paul George was on OKC Russ played great in the playoffs while PG played terrible. Last season with Harden that team wasn't built to win a championship. Now in Washington this team has struggled with injury and they found their rhythm. Every teammate besides KD has said Russ is a great teammate and cares about winning over everything else. A lot of losing in Russ's career is because of the teams around Russ. Russ needs shooting and 1 or 2 other scorers. Washington needs to keep Russ and Beal together and get a dominant big. One last thing. He let Paul George be the 1st option that last year in OKC. He let James Harden be ball dominate last season. Now he lets Beal be the guy in Washington. Beal is in the top 5 of points this year.

I don't remember the numbers, but I do remember the games. Russ had some incredible games, but also some pretty poor games. And he seemed to be too deep in his own head. Normally I like slick Ric but he’s wrong on this one. Westbrook team's record when he records a triple-double is 136-45, including 21-14 with the Wizards. Much higher than when he doesn’t have a triple double. You can’t fault a guy for not having the talent that KD had in Golden state. Had Westbrook went there he’d average 15 assists while steph would lead the league in scoring and they’d still win those chips. Maybe even 3 if Westbrook didn’t get injured like durant.

The reason people critique westbrook's triple double stuff is for two reasons. 1. He clearly tries to get triple doubles. He puprposely goes into games with the expectation of getting a triple double. 2. His triple doubles don't lead to much. If westbrooks triple doubles also lead his teams to at least the conference finals I don't think you would hear a peep from anyone. However, every year westbrook has averaged a triple double, his team got bounced the first round. So at the end of the day whats the point? That's like praising someone for paying attention in class and taking good notes even though they still failed the test. It doesn't matter

Westbrook once he retires will be respected throughout the NBA and especially in OKC. He is someone who will run through a brick wall head first to win if that's what it took for his team to win. BUT the thing I think Bucher said is the truth. Jordan had incredible individual stats and success his first 7 years in Chicago, it meant nothing to the NBA world because did he beat Bird, Thomas, or Magic. No not yet. He had to be humbled a bit and sacrifice his own stat line a bit to then dominate the NBA for years and years with titles. Westbrook never truly sacrificed his own stat line to ultimately dominate the NBA. He believes he can do everything and yes he has the talent to do everything, but a true leader and legend would sacrifice his own glory to win the ultimate prize.

Sorry, but he still isn't better than the "Big O". Westbrook hasn't won any championships, and has choked in past playoffs. He seems to get all his stats the "Padded Way", and being a ball hog. One of the reasons Durant left the Thunder. He play's like a try-hard. He doesn't even have a good jumpshot- or jumpshot at all for that matter. While Oscar it came naturally. If you are fighting your own guys for the rebound then you don't get my respect for getting rebounds.. your centre is blocking people out for you to get a rebound. you need quality rebound then just quantity.
