I disagree. His defense has improved. His ball distribution has improved. Shooting is not the criteria for letting him go. There are other players on the team that can not shoot. He missed 11 shots but 5 steals led to 10 L.A. points. The last time he had 5 steals was in 2019. Can they win without Westbrooks offense? Yes. They need his improved distribution and defense. Westbrook does not fit the Big three narrative. Good defense and court awareness fits on any team.

I can't stand the Lakers and since the start of the preseason I never thought they would finish better than 9th seed in the west, but after watching the last couple of games I see a glimmer of hope: if they continue to defend and play team ball, I can see them developing a defensive identity and turning things around after the halfway mark. But if russ is a focal point and he goes 8-22 that's not helping the lakers win either. So we aren't asking Russ to be efficient. We're just asking him to not be the be the worst player in basketball. Like literally that's the bar for Russell Westbrook now. Just don't be the worst player in the NBA. We aren't asking for much.
