I came here after listening to the version of this song that I knew by Al Jarreau. Someone there commented that his was a cover of this. They said this was better and I can agree it is better. Jarreaus is good, but this is a bit better. Thank you for sharing this band with me.😎

Glad to see this music living on here on KZbin. We had the same fate as thousands of other bands...lost in the shuffle of big label money decisions. Playing in this band did however open many other doors that unfolded a great career for me, no complaints. It's a shame we never got to tour. Truth be told, we went directly into the LA/SoCal music scene and played locally for 20yrs.

Got the 12inch way back in late 85 and was a track I recorded many times for various mixtapes, the LP version differs slightly from the 12inch version, when I started my youtube 12inch vinyl channel this was one of the first tracks I post, one of my all-time favourite tracks that I tire of listening to, should have been a much bigger hit than it was....

Makes me wonder if Jakata and Shakatak have a chance to work together on that time. Both bands have a similar name, Both bands both have a chance to works with Al Jarreau (Al covered "Golden Girl" from Jakata, Shakatak duet with Al in "Day by Day") and Both have a jazzy sound :) And the most funniest thing is. Jakata members look like they're came from Indonesia (And the band name was convincing that they're came from Indonesia. But they're American band :)

The 80’s had a ton of great music but when groups like this went up against Motley Crue, Ratt, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, etc. they never stood a massive chance. This is a really good song but anyone who lived during that decade should know what Genre dominated the charts.

I like this version better than Al Jarreau's but I like Al's vocals more ... I've been listening to Al's version for 30 years not knowing it was a cover so I've gotten used to his way of singing it. Now everything else sounds _way_ too stiff :D. Also, the background vocals in the outro in Al's version is really smooth! I miss those here. The composition is super soulful but the vocals are not at all on par. Not bad but it just doesn't measure up to the rest.
