I have and love both trucks. The Pro is slightly better planted and less prone to "overflex" on the really off camber stuff. The VRD has better belly clearance and more flex...which can be a huge help or a small hinderance. Thanks for a great comparison and I would love to see a gated course competition with these to platforms.

I feel by having the servo on top of axle with the VRD and the stubby kit with the revolver defeats the purpose of the kit because if you are running a full size motor the stock kit moves the weight forward now the weight is further back and higher.

In my opinion, it all depends what terrain you are running, to use portals or straights...but the good thing about portals is that you can run 4.2" tires in a class 2 comp to bring the rig down.

Great video Logan! I just use pen springs inside my front shocks on the shock shaft with lighter oil. Works awesome and no bands needed. Currently experimenting with the pen springs in the rear for side hilling.

I was quite unhappy with my Pro. It was unnecessary heavy with that stock gearbox and it had to low clearance. The pro axles got donated to a Arthfull Dodgers Pathfinder and o man what a difference. having a more forward skid and clearance makes.
@chevyon37s5 ай бұрын
I think the change in geometry can partially be attributed to the portal axles having a different leverage point on the link/chassis.

@westdesertwheeler5 ай бұрын
No BTA, SOA is closer to how the kit comes so I want to compare them closer to kit form
@henryoak20015 ай бұрын
@@westdesertwheeler right I know nit picking content is awesome so thank you , what I’m saying is that swapping over to the stubby kit without also doing BTA probably hurts more than it helps considering weight distribution. the stubby kit moves part of the transmission backwards to make room for the BTA setup. With the standard setup the motor and spur are more forward so it makes up for the servo being higher up on the chassis. So with the stubby kit and SOA you have more weight higher and also backwards on the chassis than you would with the BTA setup

Seems like the wheel tire set on the vrd needs to be put on the pro. I have neither of these but super scrubbed in KRAWLERS g8 from 2018 maybe. What I do have is a scx10ii base full rock pirate interceptor build even their bed I’d like to see that compared. Not sure if you have any of those left I don’t really care what axle is underneath them.

I really wish i had a good place to crawl. I really like the freedom and creativity of building these rigs. They're just useless and boring to me. I am currently working on my own "exoplex" RC playground on 15 acres i don't use but no big pile of rocks yet. These also seem a lot more affordable. At the very least you don't break expensive parts often compared to bashing. My TRX6 and SCX6 are my only 2 crawler type rigs and least modded. The Traxxas is my only bone stock truck. They're also my least driven. They're just not much to do at 10 mph or less on a bunch of flat ground.
