Thanks, trust me to foul a heavy duty one. Nice to be at sea again although wind mainly not favourable but worth it for the whale visit. I should be off again soon so another sailing video to come plus the Mirage project.

It did! The water seemed a little warmer in Portpatrick but a nice fuel oil sheen on the surface. I'm keeping up with your travels too. I got a mast for my Mirage about 300 metres from the boat in the end, after a search around the country. Am busy varnishing the Fulmar too, not sailed since Scilly trip, the big Beneteau mast still on deck!

Just about all we can do this time of year, watch sailing videos. I hope we all get the real thing in a few months. I liked the Fulmar, good sailing and plenty of space inside.

Hi, glad you are still watching. I cut short my time with the Sigma as I got no further than IOM on my planned Scottish trip. I sold it and then saw boat prices rising. I missed out on sailing the rest of the season but have just bought a Jeanneau 37. It's not fit for the sea so will be busy over the winter months. I'm not really one for videoing work on boats but may put something up soon. The channel goes downhill if nothing posted ha ha.

@@santamulligan676 I had an Elizabethan 31 with a Hasler vane gear that took me many miles between North Uist and Plymouth, the Halmatic 30 with an Autosteer vane which took me from S. Spain to N Wales then to SW Ireland. Both long keel boats with their windvane steering did most of the sailing work for me. The Sabre 27, handy shallow draught and a strong boat, I had three Cobra 850s, handy cruisers particularly the bilge keel ones, good space and sail well. Same goes for the Fulmar. I had two Invictas, small interiors but will sail anywhere, (like the Co26) . I've been tempted by modern bigger designs and want some good interior space but still remember those handy seaworthy boats and the times I had. All good in their own ways. I still have my Rival 32 project, progressed well over the summer, I mean to get a long trip with that one. Owned it 27 years, a slow burner!

@@mjcooke2sailingmostly I quite fancy the vega but at 6.1 I’d be a sardine in the v birth, the fulmar I’ve had one trip on ,but it wasn’t the bilge Keebler,very good interior for a British boat, temptation is the hr monsun31, but I will check out those others of yours. Boats I have owned, is a title ,you might write it while self steering

@@santamulligan676 Others I owned and sailed, Morgan Giles 30, Hurley 24/70 (around 6ft headroom, a twin keel), Hurley 22 long keel, I sold to Attila who got to Darwin in her. I forgot to mention the Vega. They are fast and capable but lack room and not the most attractive. Mirage 28 was a good buy, some space inside and a good sailer. I ought to say that I had good times on all of them, they all take someone on budget adventures or holidays.

Exactly, when I play that back, the hair on my neck stands on end when it exhales. Even the plastic bag was turned into a positive experience giving me the chance to try out my 'action camera' gopro clone. The mast was about 1/3 heavier section than original, I was concerned about it's weight, all I could do to lift one end!
