Smaller the budget, the bigger the workload for the boat mate. Unless you luck out and find a unicorn.

Very true, we have experienced that before first hand. At least now with a clear budget, we are able to move forward and things are developing in a few areas and we hope that we will soon be in position share some good news 😉

Like the videos mate it reminds me of my own search a couple of years ago. Learning where you are willing to compromise, because we all have to… I found a really nice Countess 28 and so my advice based on my experience is; doing an internal refit yourself is really difficult and specialist, and expensive, so get one that is nice inside, that doesn’t need much doing you want a good cabin environment or else no one will want to go sailing with you 😂 Mine needed nothing doing, Justin the previous owner had it well sorted and I didn’t understand how important that part was until I had it for a year or two. And get a good reliable engine. It doesn’t have to be new. Mine is a DV20 but rebuilt and simple and so rock solid. No rust anywhere, no leaks, I have a dry bilge on a 1980 boat and engine and that is gold. Everything else I think you can make a list and work through over a few years and get sorted. My sails are 20yrs old and baggy but they work and we sailed 500NM Edinburgh to Orkney return this season, my rigging is indeterminate but passes my visual check. Those things you can fix over a bunch of winters, but a rough wet saggy or smelly old interior is a mission. But that’s just me. We all prioritise different things and have different skillsets hey so this is just based on mine. RAAF skills though so obviously high level 😂 🇦🇺

@@DM-tn6jd Many thanks for your comment and advice. Its always great to get good insight from someone thats walked the same path as it were. I Confess Double Tee struck a cord with us although beyond our budget with a bit of the saggy headlining issues in places but far better than some westerlies we have seen in the past. We have hopes that perhaps there is some wiggle room in the price, but if nothing else we have found that the Seahawk ticks many boxes for us and its a model that will be on the radar. Sound like your own purchase was a very lucky find and she sounds great. I believe the have a great reputation as a Seaboat. Hope you will continue to have many years of happy sailing with your Countess.
