Jack McCall, Desperado (1953) A western that combines fictional and real life western characters. An interesting varient on the western story. It deals with the war of independence and the character of Jack McCall wrongly accused of being a spy. Wild Bill Hickcock also makes an appearance as the friend of Jack's crooked cousin Bart. The interesting blend of real people we have all heard of and their fictional and real lives make this a movie a little different from the ordinary western fair. Also refreshingly different is the relationship between Rose, a girl who can take care of herself ie she holds up the jail to rescue Jack and tumbles from horses with a certain aplomb also! All in all an unusual western in some respects that doesn't forget its origins and stays mainly true to formula.

"Jack McCall, Desperado", 1953. In which Jack McCall (hero George Montgomery) shoots Wild Bill Hickok (villain Douglas Kennedy) from the front in a fair fight and is found not guilty by the citizens of Deadwood. (Which is not the way the story is usually told.) Maybe the screenwriter was a McCall descendent. Rated 5.6 by IMDb.

The Jack McCall I read about in history shot Bill Hickok in the back of his head in a card game. His revenge to shoot Hickok over his parents death was a lie. His revenge to shoot Hickok over his brother’s death was a lie. They retried McCall over the murder of Hickok and threw him in a grave with the hang noose still around his neck. McCall was a drunken scoundrel and braggart in real life. This movie really painted McCall as a hero. 🤔

My mom would have fixed that wagon wheel and put it back on the wagon. I love westerns, but I don't like it when they use names like Wild Bill Hickock and tell a story that had nothing to do with the real Wild Bill.

The war is over the north returned home to their slaves and then what
@dennisgreene8784Ай бұрын
As the north returned to their southern tradition Abraham Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address forgiving them of any crime by letting them write the legal laws not outlawing slavery but if they wanted slavery the south would have to write that as a legal law the south realized the consequences of their actions and never wrote slavery into their law
