You got some great footage and stills Dennis a lot closer at your reserve than mine! I was on the A9II with the 600 and 2 times converter on my last visit for the Marsh harriers in RSPB Radipole Weymouth in Southern England . Great work with the A1 particularly liked the 120 slow mo !

Awesome video and footage . An inspiration. One comment though on the last part of the video where your location was in the "hide". It's more like a tribune than a hide? :). Good thing though the harriers are not easily spooked with the nearby traffic. Again , lovely footage

Amazing stuff & well done, the A9 guys with the 2-6 are looking with envy, could you do something with the 2-6 to give a feel for it on the 1 & to screen record it would be amazing, & the apsc crop @ 21mp I’d love to hear your thoughts, the 6f4 is beyond most hence my questions, thanks
@DennisJacobsenWildlife3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter and thanks :) and yes the GM600 is amazing! I just put up a video sharing some photos and thoughts about the 200-600 lens. Hmm i did consider to get a screen recorder at some point :) I have a custom button to switch between fullframe and cropmode and use it often on small birds etc. to make smaller files especially if there are at far away distances.

Wow, very beautiful images and video, here in Belgium we have a protection plan for this beautiful bird. Those that do not nest in the reeds but between grain or wheat, we try, together with the help of the farmer, to place a protected zone around their nest so that they are not mowed when the harvest is mowed. Can you share the video settings? Never filmed with my A1 or A9, but when I see your images I get enthusiastic about it and would like to try it out. Thks Redgy
@DennisJacobsenWildlife3 жыл бұрын
Sounds great with the protection plan! :) and thank you Redgy. I shoot in 4K 4.2.0 120p and i use mostly Zone AF area and are trying to learn to focus manually to :) im quite new to at filming so still learning :)

Stunning BIF footage and photos Dennis! Congratulations and many thanks. Does the bird eye AF on the a1 make a lot of difference to the a9ii?
@DennisJacobsenWildlife3 жыл бұрын
You are welcome and thank you :) yes it does make a difference .. its not perfect but if its fails to find the eye the camera still tracks faster and better than A9II :) and the A9II is a fantastic camera

Thanks a lot Dennis, for sharing these wonderful moments and great pictures! Just one technical question: what IS-mode do you use on the 600mm lens when working from the tripod (for stills)?
@DennisJacobsenWildlife3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Roland :) actually its recommended to set it to off on a tripod, but i leave it on in mode 1 and have no problems with blur or missing sharpness. I dont know if this lens can sens its on a tripod and auto disable IS maybe.

Every week I find myself looking forward to your videos more than any others. This video, combined with the music, was so peaceful. I got some pictures of a harrier last week with my A1. Unfortunately I only have a 70 to 200 G master with a 2.0 Tele converter and she was about 180 meters away. I did get some nice pictures of some turkey vultures though. Dennis, do you prefer the 1.4 TC over the 2.0? What ISO were you using for the video? I’m still confused about how we figure out what ISO value the image cleans up at. I’ve heard 4000 but for PP11 only. What about the other profiles? What about stills? Does the dual native ISO apply to video only? P.S. if it makes you feel any better I would like to let you know there are a few places left in my entire state of Missouri where you can go and hear nothing but nature. My father owns over 2000 contiguous acres in northern Missouri. You can almost always hear trucks or tractors on distant highways or local roads and there is not an hour that goes by where you can’t hear dogs barking. And this is one of the more rural parts of the state! I don’t remember it being this way when I was a kid but maybe I was just more oblivious to it.
@DennisJacobsenWildlife3 жыл бұрын
Really appreciate to hear you like what i do here :) Yes reach do make a difference in many cases :) in okay light or better i almost always have the TC1.4 on my GM600mm and the TC2 is also great but i do prefer the 1.4x over the 2x. On the 200-600 i rarely use TC because im use to the quality of the GM600 i think the 200-600 gets a little to soft for what im used to :) but the 200-600 is great otherwise! Sounds great with a big nature area like that! I would love to spend my time out there all the time :) :) :) The ISO i had on minimum (auto) because of good light so i had to do up in aperture to f/10 because i have no ND filters for my 600mm and cant keep the shutterspeed down. It helps a little shooting in 120p so i can keep a shutterspeed on 1/250
@derrickrr55163 жыл бұрын
@@DennisJacobsenWildlife Meant to type “There are few places...” not “There are a few...” Although either one is accurate. 😄 I still feel clumsy with my A1. It’s forward focusing too often. Especially when taking pictures of my dog running. 🤨

Thanks very much Dennis -- I love your videos. I am just getting into recording video as well as stills myself at the moment, with the A1 and 200-600G (maybe I'll get the 600GGM when I retire). Can I ask what tripod you are using? Looks relatively lightweight for a video tripod, but your results demonstrate it is rigid enough. We also have Marsh Harriers quite nearby, and I'm motivated to give them a try next sunny day.
