The Best of the Best of the Best in my opinion and do you know why, because unlike other Mammoth Locomotives that used to run on steam, that’s now run on, conversion to oil burning, not mentioning any names, this one’s still powered by steam. Excellent work.

So it is true that these true mallet type engines only chuff four times per revolution. Looks like I'll have to fix that on my grandpa's W&LE mallet
@KeijiSuwa3 жыл бұрын
This is actually true for any two- or four-cylinder steam locomotive, not just mallets, since the drivers are quartered, that is the drivers on one side of the locomotive have their rotation offset by 90 degrees from the drivers on the opposite side.
@patrickwamsley32843 жыл бұрын
@@KeijiSuwa I'm aware of how it works and why it works, it's just that he has his set up to sound like non-compound articulated engines, sounding like two locomotives doubleheaded with out of sync chuffing. Some engines chuff six times per revolution if they're a three cylinder design like the UP 4-12-2s and LNER A4 Pacifics and so on.
