That looked like fun, m glad you went. I’d rather watch you on a green tractor though. It’s amazing two wheel drive machines can do that! WHAT A GREAT FRIEND you are fixing up that 3-8 for your buddy! Very nice of you Mike What are you replacing it with (please let it be green). I can hardly stand the suspense!!!

Don't worry, the replacement tractor is also green! But I won't have it for a few months yet. Gotta make some room (and free up the funds for it) first.

I always found these events interesting. Seems crazy people come from different states and pay to plow someones field but I like it. I notice it seems all the John Deere's are 110's, 112's, 120's, 140's, early 300 series and all the 400 series but never any late 200 series, late 300 series, GT/GX series or X500 series.
@MichaelTJD602 жыл бұрын
It definitely catches some people off-guard seeing a bunch of "lawnmowers" plowing a field, but these events bring a lot of great people together and it's fun to be able to put these little tractors to work doing something other than mowing grass or working in a small garden. You are correct that the majority of the tractors at these events are older shaft-drive hydros, mostly because they've stood the test of time and most of these guys don't want to risk smoking drive belts with the smaller tractors. The guys running belt-drive models (110/112's, 200 series, Wheel Horse/Sears etc) can't push them too hard...I learned that lesson at my very first plow day with my 210 trying to keep up with all the 430's. Great way to stretch or smoke a drive belt.

Great video Mike. Your editing skills are way better than mine lol. What a fun weekend. Cant wait to do it again sometime. Once these gas prices decide to fall. Thanks for all the work you did to the 318 and for bringing it out to me. It will definitely get some loving and be put to work. Ill have videos of it up on my channel in the future for anyone who wants to follow its new journey.

Thanks Cory, it sure was a blast and I hope to be able to get out there again in the future...hopefully once fuel prices have tanked. I appreciate you carrying on the legacy of the 318, hopefully it sends some subs your way.

Man, I am sorry to see the 318 go! I will miss seeing it on the channel. But I hope what comes next is as well liked and desired as the 318. I see ya like these old cubs, but I hope you don't lose your love for the old green and yellow! Really sad you got rid of it but there are more of them out there! Still sad though. Also, nice video!

It hurt to let the 318 go, but there will be plenty more of them in my future. Not to worry, the tractor replacing it is also green and yellow, but it's not ready to come home yet as I still have to make room. I will have another 318 hopefully in the not-so-far future. People must think I'm going crazy selling my beloved green ones and keeping all these Cub Cadets...

No don’t get rid of the 318 that was one of your first tractors and one of the reasons I own one you’ve done so much work to it and made so many videos and spent so much time working on it 😢😭😭😭 I really am quite sad you sold it but it’s yours to do as you wish I hope you get another Deere and I can’t wait to see what your next buy is.

3 things , first i wish i knew you was going there , that is only a hour from my house.. second is ya need to get a adjustable draft arm for the drivers side ( left side) to correct the angle of the plow share , the angle was pretty drastic as seen from the gopro footage anyway , it will cut much better if the plow share is flat and level.. and third that cub you were running did it have a Kohler magnum 18 in it ?i cant remember what it has in there been a while since i saw one of your videos on it .. great video buddy thanks !

Good to hear from you Adam! It's been a while. The lift links on the 3-point have been a constant battle with this tractor...they need adjusted at every field I plow. The Brinly plow cuts straight and square but the camera makes it look tilted. When I get the lift arms on the 3-point set just right, it plows like a dream. And as Hunter mentioned, the engine is an Onan P218G out of a JD 318.

Great video as usual Mike. I can imagine how hard it is to see the 318 go, I understand. We were going to trade the 2544 in for a kubota bx. I just couldn’t bare getting rid of my cub. So we decided not to. Then when we got rid of the 1872 for our pos john deere x540. Man that was a mistake. I hope someday soon you will be able to get the 210 back with you. I kinda miss it lol. I have a prediction that the replacement for the 318 is your uncles 318 with the linimar.
@MichaelTJD602 жыл бұрын
It was sad to see the 318 go for sure, but there will be plenty of others in the future. Good guess as far as the replacement, but that's not it. I guess I should have mentioned in the video that my uncle's 318 is the only exception - you can't put a price on sentimental value. I would like to bring the 210 up to the new house some day but I don't have the room for it right now and would probably have to bring another tractor back to NJ for the time being.

Looked like a lot of fun. I need to stop buying tractors and buy a plow. Lol. I need to find time to attend one of these events. Did the red Cub diesel with the strait pipe have a turbo? Was the younger man on the Sears from Ohio? It was tough to make out, But im pretty sure I have seen him at local shows here.
@MichaelTJD602 жыл бұрын
I certainly recommend going to a plow day if you have the time. They hold one near Columbus, Ohio every October and I've heard that's a pretty good one. The red 1572 in the video had no turbo, it was all stock. And the guy on the Sears is from West Virginia so you may very well have seen him at some Ohio shows.

@@steiger256 I agree - I really like the looks of a stack on the diesel Cub Cadets, but you have to make sure they are braced in some way, otherwise it will stress and crack the manifold from the vibration over time.

from where can i buy a small tractor like this with a plow?
@MichaelTJD60 Жыл бұрын
Check your local classifieds (craigslist, eBay, or Facebook Marketplace) and local swap meets. You will need to make sure the tractor can be equipped with a sleeve hitch or Category 0 three-point hitch. Not sure where you're located, but the Brinly plows can run anywhere from $125-200 for a sleeve hitch version and up to $400 for a 3-point version.

Ok, seeing as I know next to nothing about Cub Cadets, wtf is a super steer axle?
@MichaelTJD602 жыл бұрын
Front axle from a Super Cub Cadet such as a 982, 1872, 2072 etc. They have a wider and taller stance than the stock axle (or the Cyclops power steering axle I was using before), and the spindles are swept further forward to allow the front wheels to turn sharper in either direction. It made a night and day difference in steering radius even compared to the Cyclops axle that was on it before (which is supposed to be a huge aid in steering radius on its own). It also gives the 782 a longer wheelbase.
