Are you aware that Western Star is now owned by Daimler Trucks North America? They bought them out in 2000 and moved manufacturing from Cleveland, OH to Portland, OR in 2002. This accounts for some similarities now with the between the new WS and the Frieghtliners...

I know your pain, I had 6 teeth pulled 11 days ago and now I “communicated” my sinus cavity with a nice sneezing fit. Still no pain to cry about, but if I swish liquid or sometimes drink, it sneaks into my nose, so I’ll be calling them today, after my shift, haha.

Always nice seeing you Jack, even on days getting a tooth pulled... I think you were very brave going back to work, etc... I hope you didn't take the pain pills and drive too. For anyone taking pain pills, extra fiber is always a great idea because they slow your system down. The reason I know, I had a broken leg that last year really hurt for the first week, but was a simple fracture, so they splint it, wrapped it with a gauze that turns into concrete that itches after a week. I only had 5 Vicodin, take 2 after I got home, then one in the morning and one at night until gone. I try never to take stuff like that since I see all the commercials about getting addicted to opioids, however I was grateful to have them. I can say it was a great idea I looked them up on the web and doubled my fiber intake. I went back in a week to get x-rays right thru the cast, and can you believe they offered me a whole script of Vicodin because they asked if it still hurt without weight on and I said yes, but I refused the script because the pain was not unbearable. I just took sleeping pills at night to sleep that are not habit forming. After three weeks they took the cast off and put on a boot, I was never so glad to get rid of that cast as I was that day. I had to wear the boot for two months and use crutches to keep the weight off it to insure it did not break in the same spot. Each month they x-ray'ed it to see how the break line was healing as I tend to heal slow but then then I am 66 years old. ............ That Western Star was a nice looking truck. I don't see many of them on the road, but I think they have come a long way in tractor building. If I had to buy a truck today I'd have to make my mind up between a Western Star or a Peterbilt or a Cascadia. I hope you feel better soon Jack, although like you said, by the time this video comes out I sure hope you are ok and where that tooth was is healing nicely.........

Good Sunday morning to you, dont know if anyone else seen it but when the western star was pulling out the turn left turn signal was blinking weird. Love that color red. Dont know if you remember or not I was having trouble with the ram I was going to get they was way to much damage to the steering the rack and pinion was replaced twice 1,500 bucks didnt fix it finally they figured it out that the nuckles on steering column were worn out 1,200 bucks and finally the drivers side air bag was defective they wouldn't fix it. Got my money back so no ram. Keep up the great videos.

I know some drivers won't agree with me but one of the things I look for in a carrier is the trucks. If I'm gonna spend weeks in a truck I want to be as comfortable as possible and be proud of what I'm driving. These trucks without tank fenders, no APU or inverter....no thanks. I love bells and whistles and I treat my truck the same as I do my home.

My son drives a 2018 Western Star and really likes it. The only thing that makes him nervous is that their operated by the Daimler corporation which also builds Freightliner, which he has a bad taste for due to his experience of lack of performance. So whatever

The ending was funny! I used to piss off my dispatcher when they tried to make me sit to service one of their contract. I would send them load after load from the board to get me moving. Believe it or not I was a company driver. I always told the dispatchers that if I wasn't rolling they won't get their bonus. Screw the load planners! Let them deal with drivers who want to travel truck stop to truck stop and bitch because they only drive 300 miles a day when I max out!

Western Star was originally a unique brand , made in Canada and mainly for heavy haul. Popular up here as a logging truck. But now owned by freightliner , unfortunately most of those style are just another DD12 automatic POS. A real Western Star has a manual transmission!!

As I drive the interstates I would see plenty of trucks with what looked like independent names on their sides along with trucks bearing corporate names. I never knew the reason or details. This video, where an owner joined your company piqued my interest.
