For my money, the best commentator on the cultural representations of the war. Mark brings together the art of photography, public demand for information and solace, reference to religious imagery and the creation mf myth and memory brilliantly. A tour de force. His book on British Instructional Films in the 1920's is one of my favourite books on the war in popular media and I can highly recommend it.

What has happened to Dr. Spencer Jones? I would like to see more presentations by him.

Spencer is still running the MA course at Wolverhampton, he spoke at a conference in Birmingham at the weekend and is speaking at my WFA branch in Warwick early next year. I agree, one of the best speakers around. His edited volume on 1918, the next in the series from Helion, is eagerly anticipated!
