I swear with all of this modern engine BS, it’s all designed to fail. It’s designed to run hot and “clean” and then fail. The manufacturers want it to fail. They make more money when it fails. It’s not like things used to be, they wanted them to work, but now they want them to fail.

My heart goes out to anyone trying to haul to make a living. They'll need the money, be desperate to keep a commitment to a customer and so focused on the job to be done that they fall into this rut. A costly rut. A rut that's ruined many a haulier. Regards the engine dusting. Those small rock saws that builders use? (Stihl saw) They can be bought cheaply on the used market. They're always worn out. Builders use them, the air filter chokes up and instead of cleaning or replacing the air filter they decide to run the saw without an air filter. Rock dust makes short work on engine internals.

Because the engine would be cooking hot when the water goes through the exhaust manifold it may turn to steam which then goes into other cylinders and when the engine cools down perhaps condenses back to liquid thus meaning no kinda sloping path needed for flow to happen.

I could see the guy getting rid of the mechanic that screwed up the tractor. I don’t see getting rid of a tractor that you know the engine has been rebuilt, might be better than what you replace it with. Seems like the newer Cummins are not tough engines or whoever rebuilt it the last time didn’t get liners set correctly. I would think being at the high side of the protrusion spec would be better for holding a head gasket, also need to have them as close as possible to each other. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge.

Caterpillar told me it’s to cool….thousands of hours later…no known side effects…except way less head gaskets, heads and manifolds….. I see no other reason than epa nonsense why these motors need to run this hot…. Before I did this….when the factory set (way to hot) alarm came on….the damage was already done. Does it look like that liner hammered? I have no real experience with that particular engine so I have to kind of equate it with other engines that I have worked on. I have seen an engine where a "loose" liner started kind of bouncing as the engine ran. Boy howdy , let me tell you that that engine was a mess. It started out like the one you're working on being hydro locked , bad head gasket , damaged head due to the liner movement , along with damage to the block as well.
