Westfield 11 - Walkaround and Drive

Back in the late fifties, I had one and I kept it for 3 years as my daily driver. In the end I sold it and bought a Mk1 Sprite because I wanted more creature comforts. Incidentally the Sprite cost me £100 more than what I got for the X1!! Ex track Lotus cars were dirt cheap back then. Mine was a Le Mans one with the de dion rear suspension, it had an 1172 Ford side valve engine. Although only moderately powered the real ones were much lighter, alloy body, no trim or proper seats and magnesium wheels. Westfield's fibreglass body is quite heavy, they're still great cars though.

I absolutely love the lines of the older Lotuses (Loti?) and Jaguars. But modern mechanicals make them so much more enjoyable and reliable. Thanks for another great share!

Is this the kit you need a frog eye for? I really wish Caterham would make one. The new inline 3 they have has 85 horsepower from 660cc. That's one more horsepower than an original lotus eleven with the Coventry 1.1 liter. I really want a lotus eleven and that's the only way I'll ever get close.

Yes it is the sprite / midget kit. I was impressed with the westfield kit as was really well made and very authentic. The only thing to keep in mind is the car is very low so definitely not speed bump friendly 👍
