M3 is probably one of the best balanced gun. Its genius what they did with it. Cons- Takes up half the screen, Sight is useless since it day maps only so it actually makes using it a little harder Pros- Shoots like a damn lazer beam and just enough bullets.

I never used the other Recon class specialization unless I was doing a challenge. It was useless by comparison to be able to spawn on spawn beacons placed by anybody because hardly anybody placed spawn beacons.

For those wanting to counter the screen being dark when coming out of scope for the infrared, go into your settings and turn off "eye adaptation".

The reason this scope doesn’t light people up like the IR vehicle scopes in BF4 is because the BF4 version is PASSIVE infrared. It basically senses body heat and shows warmer objects as progressively brighter white. The infrared scope used on the M3 is different. It’s an ACTIVE infrared system. That means that instead of passively picking up and showing heat signatures, it instead used an infrared projector to shine an infrared beam that the scope can then see. That weird radar dish looking thing on top of the scope is basically a giant, infrared flashlight, and works the exact same way, “illuminating” areas so you can see objects in the dark, except since it’s not a visible light flashlight, people can’t see it. UNLESS, and this could have been a cool mechanic, somebody else ALSO has the M3, at which point he could ‘see’ your infrared beam just like you used to be able to see other people’s flashlight beams in BF4, thus exposing you.

It's an infrared sight dude for night as I fared light is invisible to our eyes, the big thing on top is an infrared light so it's like an invisible flashlight at night. At least that's what I think I could be wrong

If the M3 Sniper Carbine had extended mags and some sort of thermal imaging like the FLIR Scope from Battlefield 4 in one of the specilization sets, mainly in levels 3 & 4, would make the gun better. Because the standard 15 round mags go away so quick when you're spam firing the weapon and the IR Scope it's just really terrible even if enemies are hidden in darker areas and the enemies are so hidden, it's hard to kill enemy players. The only way you're going to kill enemy players, if you spot them with the Sniper Combat Role or using the Flare Guns. I doubt DICE would ever fix this weapon at all, but would prefer my idea to make the gun more better. It's decent and would've been better if DICE buffs this weapon at all, but I rather prefer an M1 Carbine with a sniper scope similar to the one in Sniper Elite. The IR Scope with the spotlight attachment on top the scope does obstruct the entire right side of the screen. Would not recommend crouch running with the weapon, blocks the bottom screen completely because you probably would get killed alot by someone who was prone because of the spotlight attachment.

I think it's a bug. If you equip the new mortar Gadget, you will have a meter counting the max range the mortar can shoot. But if you Play the recon the m just appears randomly

My favorite thing to do in bfV is to run around with the Panzerbüsche and use it like a shotgun. I’d recommend giving it a try, it’s dumb but really fun.

With the Chauchat I literally 2 shot people in closed range. I had a medic drop on me and at the 2nd bullet I saw him literally break in half, with the legs flying and the bullet hitting area (the stomach) going way back - like he was impaled by a spear that went flying back with him. I was - Wow, Chauchat is a spear throwing weapon - a very fast spears thrower too. Coming to the infrared weapon - I find it covering too much from my screen when running, and in prone mode I cannot see anything. That scope feels like 19th century blitz on photo cameras (the ones that were actually burning a magnesium/phosphorus substance).
