I am SO glad I found this channel. One of my fans told me about it. I love these vintage machines.

I'm glad to see you've found it. I've been a fan of yours for several years. You should subscribe as I'll be putting out more and more elevator videos.

I wish that Westinghouse Circle W logo the late Paul Rand designed should have been on the operating control panels on the elevators up from 1960 until that division was bought by Schindler.

how many floors can this machine lift? like say 20 or less. has to be a low building right---as the motor didn't turn too far--at least i thought that. and heck i don't know poop about that stuff. thanks for the video-oh.

This particular elevator is a six stop machine. It serves six floors, so not all that high. It runs at 200 feet per minute, so it’s not all that fast either. But that matches the building and it’s needs fairly well. It’s an older machine that does need to be modernized. BTW, those 6 ropes are 5/8” cables, each with a minimum breaking strength of about 20,000lbs. The empty car weighs roughly 3,000lbs and the carrying capacity is 3,500lbs. So the maximum load is 6,500lbs. That’s well below the 120,000lb breaking strength of the ropes. You’re pretty darn safe riding an elevator. 👍🏼

@@dieselshadow thanks for educating me on elevators, never rode hardly any till i went to the high rise pitals. always wondered about them over the yrs. we used to have a elevator guy hunt with us from out in Pittsburgh, 30 some yrs ago. he died a while back from his sugar problem.

What kind of tool bag is that? It looks like a veto propac?
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
Yessir, it is. I really like my Veto Propac tool bags. They are the best, just tough as nails. 👍🏼

@@dieselshadow I have the mb and I love it. They're expensive but they're worth every penny. And it's got the little rings I hang drop keys off of and the outside pocket holds door wedge tools perfect.
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
I’ve got a few setup. The one you see is the MB meter bag. It’s perfect for most service calls. I have another for adjusting and repairs and yet a third for escalators. It’s just super handy to grab the bag you need for the job and go.

Are the inside fixtures original?
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
Yes. Everything on this elevator is pretty much original.

@@dieselshadow Does it have Black Buttons, Pop Out buttons or another kind of fixture?
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
They are a standard Westinghouse round white jewel with a number printed on the surface. They don’t move very far when pressed and they are slightly below the surface of the control panel.

About to get modded? Is this in Nashville?
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
It needs a mod, that's for sure. Yes, located in Nashville.

@@dieselshadow I take it Nashville still has lots of old elevators. For now, anyways...
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
Just like any big city, we have out fair share of building owners who haven't decided to modernize yet. It's costly, yes. But it's also a big safety thing. It's also the first thing besides the front door your tenants see, use, and rely on. Modern equipment is not only more efficient and safer, but usually more inline with today's styles. Nothing like taking a ride in a 40 year old elevator with dim lighting, dingy fixtures, all the creaks and groans, and only 1/4 of today's safety features. LOL

@@dieselshadow I as an enthusiast find old elevators more fascinating and more fun, but not many people would agree as they aren't interested, so I get what you're saying LOL. Also, does Nashville have any old Manual/Crank elevators?
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
None that I know of anymore, but I’ll bet a few still exist and operate.
