We have used the kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Just bought one for a replacement for my 8750 watt. Love it. Smooth running and steady power on the meter. The remote is great. During the Florida hurricanes I power my entire house with my old one, for a few hours at a time. It will be nice not having to go out in the hurricane to shut it down and restart it. Wired into my 200a panel box, so other than the initial main breaker shutdown, I won't have to go out in the wind, rain and flying debris.

Thank you for sharing this video. My stupid electrician told me I can't use the generator because it's on a 30 amp breaker on my circuit breaker and my ac unit is 40 amp. Accidentally I forgot to shut off my AC breaker when I ran this generator and it worked. I thought it was a fluke but thank you for proving my electrician they don't know what they're talking about

The ac has a 40amp breaker which means that is the point where the breaker will trip in an overcurrent situation. That does not mean your ac is pulling 40amps some only pull around 17amps the 40amps is just for overcurrent protection. The breaker size does not mean it's pulling that many amps.

Keep this in mind. Anyone getting a duel fuel (gas & propane) generator should be aware of this. If your starting battery should go dead (for whatever reason) you will NOT be able to start it with the rope pull, while it’s in gas mode. The generator has to be connected and set on the propane setting to rope pull (hand start). This is according to Westinghouse themselves. Reason being, the gas valve is held open with a solenoid valve, powered by the 12v battery.

We got the same one about two weeks ago. There was one dimple on one side of the box and when I opened the thing the frame - right near where the battery sits - was broken cleanly in half. My wife insisted we order the thing from Amazon (I'm not a fan) but when I called them they gave us an immediate refund and told us we could do whatever with the thing. I paid a guy 200 bucks to weld the frame - he drove about 20 miles each way to pick it up and deliver the thing. Only asked for 100 bucks but he did a great job and I don't see any other damage - very nice young guy and I didn't feel like 100 bucks was right. Gonna fire it up tomorrow and see if it runs okay - I think it will. If it does, we got the cheapest Wgen 9500 ever sold. One motor mount was very slightly out of alignment and this guy fixed that, perfectly. Got my fingers crossed. If there's a problem, we're 200 bucks in the hole....lol. Life is a gamble. If it works I'm gonna make a KZbin video - if it doesn't I'm goin' underground.

With that said, for the price of the soft start and the installation, I may have went with a bigger generator...Maybe? I just bought the 9500 cause I thought the 7000 was shot (it was putting out 320v. After the 9500 was delivered I figured I would try to fox the 7000 and it was as simple as a 80 dollar avr. Oh well. @@otuagoma That most generators produce electricity that is not clean and/or consistent as what you get from your utility company. These power spikes from the generator are called THD short for Total Harmonic Distortion. These THD spikes can damage or even fry sensitive electronic equipment like computers or TVs. You want to make sure your generator has a THD rating of less than 5%. Shop generators which is what's most common have THD of 10% to upwards of 20% to avoid problems specially if you plan to plug it to power your whole house with a transfer switch.

Bought the same one on March 2019 for construction and it never let me down. I bought a Generac 8000 a month earlier also for construction and prefer the Westinghouse over the Generac. It has more features for the same basic cost including a fob start with the package. The Westinghouse is much better balanced than the Generac regarding pulling around. The Generac has much more weight on the handle than the Westinghouse 9500 making it considerably awkward. The only flaw I have experienced with the Westinghouse is the automatic choke. It is programmed to choke for a moment then back off, probably to avoid flooding and it works well at most temperatures. When starting on a Michigan subfreezing day I have to manually keep the choke closed to help it start. Not much to complain about. The gas tank is large enough to keep it running all night and well into the morning avoiding middle of the night fill ups. The current model is dual fuel and also runs on natural gas.

I bought mine almost a year ago. Someone somewhere on one of these videos told me that the pull start didn't work with gas, only with propane. For some reason I just assumed they were right. But a few months ago when trying to start it (with gas), I had accidentally drained the battery previously, so the push button wouldn't work. So I (get this!) read the owner's manual, and it says to manually activate the choke (push it over with your finger), THEN pull the cord when using gas. So I did that. And it started on the first pull, and I didn't even pull it very hard. (The more you know...rainbow.)

I have the exact same gennerator and want to hook it up to power my house as well. I THINK the big AC at my house is 3 ton and the small one is 2 ton so in addition to powering my fridge and freezer, the AC is a priority. If you get the time, can you make a video and show how you got this all wired with the interlock and plug at your house? I would appreciate it. I would go with a male connector at my house due to safety concerns so I don't have to have a male to male extension cord, but other than that, what you have done is exactly what I'm planning to do. During a hurricane it powered the house no problem including a well system. Only issue i had was my AC compressor would not kick on. After seeing how well the generator handled your AC i am going to see about have the compressor wired up the panel. I verified i have the available space in the panel. Also i added the US Carburetion motor snorkel for natural gas. Took about 1/2 hour to install. Have a BBQ pit feed on the back patio so I added a quick connect and never run out of fuel. I had the same issue this week when hurricane Beryl hit Houston here where I am at. It ran my AC, fridge, freezer and other small things perfectly the first day on 4 hours, off 4 hours to conserve gas, seeing that all the gas stations were down. It also ran just fine during the freeze a year ago and the first couple times this week, but then all of a sudden it wouldn't run just the AC by itself only the last few hours before power ultimately got restored luckily, it kept tripping the generator breaker if I tried running the AC. After it Beryl passed, I contacted Westinghouse and they told me that I needed to "float the neutral". There's plenty of videos on KZbin showing how and it's super easy that anyone can do it in 5 minutes time. You're supposed to float the neutral wire WHEN HOOKING THE GENERATOR UP TO A HOUSE PANEL. If you are not doing that and using it with extension cords or for tools, etc, like on a construction site, then you leave it bonded to the frame as it comes. For emergencies like hurricanes, it had to be floated and not bonded to the frame. There's a sticker on this generator stating that it's "bonded to the frame" at the lower right part of the panel near the 50 Amp plug. So if you are connecting to the house panel, you need to take the panel off, remove the 2 screws and float the neutral wire by removing the wire and reconnecting both ends to the neutral bolt. It eventually gave me issues because there was two grounds the current was traveling through, eventually producing a false overload so to speak (not an electrician), going by what they said, and it eventually started tripping the breaker each time the AC turned on. I already ordered my soft start kit and will be installing that here soon to help alleviate the initial start up load on the generator reducing by almost half. I even already had a reliance Controls 50 Amp plug and cord, 50amp breaker, including a whole home surge protector, hooked into the panel prior to this when the freeze hit here. I'm looking forward to adding the soft start kit and floating the neutral wire and see the difference. When I had the 50amp plug installed 2 years ago at the freeze, the electrician ran the whole 2600sf house, no issues, as a test at the time. I don't plan on doing that during emergencies to conserve gas, but it was nice seeing that it could. So I do know that it is possible. Good luck!

Hey bro, do you know you could make it Automatic during power loss.. all you have to get is the Automatic Transfer switch, which cab power up to 20amps.. then you could wire up a knife switch inside your property to manual change over to power the remaining heavy items in your house. This is helpful because you could turn on and off automatically and when you not at home you do not have to worry that your family is not taken care of.. also you could build a muffler system with a box to quiet down the noise. You’ll have to share some knowledge with me. What’s is THD?
@neilbrookins8428
@neilbrookins8428 3 жыл бұрын
@@BigCountrysWay THD is total harmonic distortion. In simple terms it’s the quality of the power supplied. Said a different way, perfect power is a sine wave; but distorted power is a different shape wave. And the value of the THD is how far away from ideal it produces. What does this mean as it relates to devices being powered? If the power has a high THD, meaning low quality power then the devices are being subjected to more heat, higher peak current, higher electromagnetic emissions (noise on a radio). Many of these impacts may not be noticed by an end user without using tools to measure the impact. For example you might not notice that your power supply is overheating if it’s still running and working ok.
@neilbrookins8428
@neilbrookins8428 3 жыл бұрын
Bruno, what makes you think that an interlock would affect THD? The only thing the interlock does is prevent the main breaker and the generator inlet breaker from being on at the same time. Meaning the interlock is NOT connected to the power flow itself directly. It’s an external device.
@georgedavis1678
@georgedavis1678 3 жыл бұрын
Interlock just prevents the main circuit breaker from being closed while generator power is being supplied, does not affect thd. According to the owner manual for this the thd is up to 23% so it's far from clean energy. TVs would be a no no, unless you don't mind shortening their lifespan.

Considering this is one of the largest generators out there that you can role around, it’ll power just about anything. An AC compressor consumes more power on start up than a heater. It’s hard to see from the video, but did you say you made a male to male cable? That means the inlet on the wall near the interlock is female? If so, that is very dangerous and could kill someone in the future. Please do the right thing and replace your inlet with a male inlet. You already have the interlock to prevent the male inlet from being energized. I have the same model generator except in the dual fuel version (9500df). It’s a nice generator. @neilbrookins8428
@neilbrookins8428 3 жыл бұрын
@@BigCountrysWay I’m assuming this is a serious question and you are not joking. So I will explain a few examples to illustrate the risks. Please understand these are just examples and are not a complete list of possibilities. Meaning there are other ways people could be injured besides these. 1) you are ill, in the hospital and your family is at home on a 98 degree day when the power goes out. They are desperate for some cool comfort so they hook up the generator themselves even though it’s something that you’ve always done for them in the past. Everything goes fine at first, but after the power comes back on and they are shutting down the generator they do it in the wrong order and pull the cable from the wall while it’s still running and touch the male end by accident and shock themselves. In summary, most people assume that on an extension cord or any power cord that the male end is not energized when not connected. But the female end can be live if the other end is plugged in. Therefore people will instinctively pick up and touch a male end thinking it’s always safe. This SHOULD always be true. But with a cord with male on both ends the power is running backwards from what intuition would expect. This leads to a risk of death. The risk is higher to other people than to yourself since you understand the danger. Please don’t put other people’s lives in danger. If they were ever hurt you would feel responsible and that would suck for both people involved.

@BigCountrysWay 3 жыл бұрын
@@neilbrookins8428 I understand your view point, I do. And I was being serious. I love feedback so thank you for this. I do have to say, I think that is stretching it alittle bit in my situation. First, The cord I made is 6ft long so the generator is right next to it. This being said, “if” someone else is unhooking it, they will definitely know there is still power going to the other end of the cord. Second, my wife would never attempt a hook up or unhook without having me on the phone. She would even be to scared to flip breakers in the house so she would most definitely leave the house on generator power until I got home or until the unit ran out of gas. If someone were to be stealing it, and left it running , while moving it so that we didn’t hear it was being tampered with, the male plug may even work in our favor lol With all this being said, you did bring that risk to my attention and for that I thank you! I now know to not let anyone mess with it without clear instruction or monitoring

@neilbrookins8428 3 жыл бұрын
@@BigCountrysWay you think that having instructions will help reduce the chances of an accident and you are absolutely right. But there is still the very real possibility of an accident because someone didn’t read the instructions or they forgot a step or they were drunk/high/stoned etc. Please stop trying to think of a specific person or specific scenario that might happen and accept the fact that there could exist a scenario which you didn’t plan for and didn’t expect and thought would never happen- but it does happen and leads to touching the end of a wire. Let’s look at this a different way- How is it BETTER to keep things they way they currently are? How does this current setup provide any benefit or advantage over changing it to use a male inlet and a cord with female end? What are the pros and cons?

No. Because there is always that risk even with new tires. You take a risk to drive anywhere you go.. but this is an acceptable risk.. I accept it… even when I have passengers or someone is driving my truck, I accept it. For this particular case, I accept the risk of the plug.. there are so many people with generators out there that have this exact set up. That’s where I got the idea from, researching how I was going to hook it up. I never said I would have written instructions anywhere, we don’t drink nor get high at my house, any instructions would be over FaceTime or phone call. Cons?
