FLY FISHING with a TEXAS RIG!

Today we hit a KZbin 1st and go FLY FISHING with a TEXAS RIG!! This has to be one of the most absurd video ideas we have had, and takes the proper fly equipment to even attempt, such as our new 10wt fly outfit strong enough to withstand casting such a heavy bait traditionally thrown ONLY on CASTING or SPINNING gear and rated as one of the best big fish catching rigs of all time being able to creep right through heavy cover with its weedless attributes, right where the fish are hiding! We are using 10# sinking fly line and a 20lb fluorocarbon leader line straight to a double pegged (bobber stop) 1/8th oz tungsten weight, and a 4/0 Googan Squad hammer hook paired up to our confidence Bait of choice, the Krackin Craw and Bandito bug, and the results will shock you!!!

With fly fishing you can use any lure you want. Jigs, jerk bait, Texas rig, it doesn't really matter. I never limited myself to just flies. I figured why not?

I did a UL Ned Rig by taking the smallest Ned Rig I could find and cutting down almost in half. That worked very well. I did a UL Free Rig with a big squiggly worm and 1/32oz tungsten teardrop weight on 4 Tippet 7wt fly rod

Quick tip with casting a sinking line, as soon as you false cast enough to get the sink tip out of the rod tip, make one more false cast and shoot it. Those lines are heavy enough to carry the rest of the line without needing additional false casts. Also when you do shoot that sinking tip, leave the rod angled just slightly up, it’ll help carry the the line all the way without dropping early. With some practice you can cast all the way to the backing with just 3 or so false casts! I fish a sinking line here in TN for hybrid bass and stripers and it’s a blast.

Seems like the heaviest flies and the lightest lures might have some overlap lol that 10 wt blank is specifically designed to cast big flies so I'm not surprised it can handle some heavier stuff. Good to see you putting the rod to use already!

For fly casting to help get the fly away from you, It helps me to think of it as more of a "up cast and for cast" ..good videos, fly fishing is a ton of fun, your gonna get addicted.

I would just start lighter with like a baby bull Shad, or Jackall Gantarel jr. so that a standard 7’ medium heavy can even fling it until you decide to get a dedicated BIG Swimbait setup like a TranX and heavy Swimbait rod rated for like 2-4oz stuff

It’s simple, there’s a fly, just a different texter than a lure, the fly rod was created to cast different material, it wasn’t built to cast a rubber lure, why?! The normal bait caster was used to cast hard material because the feathers are light and wind resistant… what’s the point in using a fly rod when it casts better on a bait caster? Weston, I have made several comments on your earlier fly vids. Maybe you don't quite grasp that fly fishmen for the most part are purests and are not going to use any type of conventional bait or lures. Many may find this vid entertaining but it is not fly fishing.

Maybe you don’t grasp that my main audience is conventional fisherman who don’t even know they would love to fly fish yet, but a video like this, throwing a popular rig they know all about, is what turns the tables for them, gets them to watch, and in turn gets them interested in grabbing a fly rod to throw flies for the first time.

Even weighted streamer flies will only sink a few feet with a floating line.
