Sending best wishes to Dave in Northern Ireland for a speedy recovery Thankfully I’ve never seen any mistreatment of the donkeys on the Weston beach who always look cared for and in good health In comparison my early days in coal mining and working with the pit ponies underground those beautiful creatures had a miserable life and in the colliery that I worked out they would never see the light of day or smell the fresh air I still look back with fondness for the ponies I worked with and I had a close bond with them and every day I would always bring them some little treats Times now have changed thankfully and no animals should ever be used for work or for the pleasure of humans and certainly not for medical testing Thanks to Dave for bringing this to the channel today and hopefully it will open the door for more consideration and concern for animal welfare Have a great day everyone and take great care of our wildlife ✊✊🏿✊🏽☮️☮️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️

Donkeys, all depends on the managent of the animals. Whene had ponys at home. We my sisters out grew them they went to a sanctuary here local special needs children rode them daily. Ponys and children loved every moment. ( never threw a single child either) Even a decade later those pony's knew me from childhood enjoying apples and dancing around. Animals are smart humans are just intelligent. That's the difference.

I'm from a 'historic city' on America's SE coast. Horses are used for carriage tours around the downtown area. They work the horses 5 hours a day 4 days a week. They never have to travel faster than a walk. For that they are fed and sheltered all day, everyday. Can we get a petition going that would feed and shelter humans working 20 hours a week?

Since god was a lad donkeys have been used for work, hence the term Donkey work 👍 once in Ireland I saw a donkey and cart coming off the peat bog with a trailer full of peat and a bloke driving it. The donkeys toenails were about a foot long and curved under, I said to the bloke the donkey wants its toe nails cutting. He liked at me and said don’t be stupid he needs them like that do he can dig himself out of the bog. That’s a true story brother 👍

I'm not against Donkey rides on beaches but I think PETA campaign on lots of animal rights/cruelty issues including the ones you also mentioned. As in all things though a balance is needed - in this case the balance would be licencing and checking that the animals are well looked after and are not put under undue stress and strain whilst working - I'm pretty sure that the council do this already.

Would a donkey or equivalent, carry a great ape around on its back in the wild, which of course is no, which means this is an unnatural action for the animal to perform which it does so as a survival instinct because, as you say, they are killed when they no longer provide adequate money to the person owning them, usually when they are too old or unwell to carry out the task they are being laboured into doing.

Hola Dave...there is an old buro in our village that is regularly used to take loads of olive tree cuttings up and down the mountain in 40 odd degrees of heat...seems to be a happy animal...wakes the village up some mornings...what a bloody noise...

Hi Dave, good morning to youi. Well said about that witch who wants to ban the poor donkeys from the beach. In my humble opinion she is just trying to score political points for her own career.
