Weston-Super-Mare - Model Railway Exhibition - Virtual Model Train Show

Highlights from the Weston-Super-Mare Summer Model Railway Show. The summer show was one of two charity event, which took place at the Campus, Worle, Somerset. 2017 marked the last of the summer shows, however, the winter show proves to be extremely popular year on year, with thousands raise for a good cause.
So to mark the occasion, I've picked some of my favourite layouts from previous years to create this special Weston-Super-Mare - Model Railway Exhibition highlights video, showcasing a wide selection of amazing model railways, in a variety of scales and gauges.
All being well it is hoped the main winter show will take place in January 2021, with an excellent line-up of layout from around the country.

That is so spooky, when you're following a freight train, deeply immersed in the wonderful detail of the carriages and watching the wheels go round when all if a sudden a huge giant appears.

Terrific footage. But as so many visitors to the UK from my city of Melbourne, Oz, know, the UK main line and branch line railways plus your wonderful preserved railway scene are also most enjoyable. Love the LMS layout!

Honestly size doesn't matter with layouts. I've got a 4ft x2ft WW1 layout I take to shows, and it seems to always be popular with visitors. Really enjoy building micros, so much more easier to pack away at the end of shows too ;)

Oh man I love that part with the moving truck and the train and the rocks and the conveyer belt...that's the kinda stuff I wish model railways could have more of, stuff actually happening. But I imagine it ain't exactly easy or cheap to aquire.

Really is a superb layout that! Believe it or not, the lorry from what I was told started of life as a cheap R/C car! So anything is possible, even on a budget :)

Hi,like the lay out B ritish one brings back memories of my time on the footplate I did 50yrs on the footplate 8yrs on steam started at edgeley shed in 1961 in 1962 I was made a fireman I finished my time out at longsight as a driver Regard Phil.

What a fantastic show. Unfortunately I found the jerking movements of the camera disconcerting. Is it the filming speed?

Always is a fantastic show. The footage was filmed on my old camera, so there is a discrepancy in the filming speed of some of the older clips

When WILL they get it right? These trains are going too fast. They slow down too quickly. They jerk to a start. Someone has to assert Mass/Motion. Wonderful scenery and track-work though!

There's so much that's good here but...as an example 07.30 I reallyhope that cattle truck is empty otherwise the cows would all have broken ankles and unless they were fly shunting how about a pause to allow the van to be coupled, three links rememebr actually require a man between the vehicles.

Can someone please help? I think this video is great and the layouts are truly masterpieces but what the heck is that contraption with a 4 on the side of it at 11:00 mins in the wood yard. It's a very strange creature from planet weird, or is there a locomotive like that exist in the real world? It does look like Steam-Punk and I want one!

Hi Ian, glad you enjoyed the video. That is what they call a Shay geared locomotive, very popular in the USA with logging companies. Quite a few variants are preserved and in steam over there from what I understand. Certainly quite a sight!

I have to agree,some locos run beautifully but others jerk like startled rabbits and run much too fast.I`m a member of a Hornby Dublo facebook forum and we are always telling folk to slow their trains down in the videos that get uploaded.

No consistancy here, some trains have drivers, others are the ghost trains lazy people use ( don't have to bother about realistic train crews or passengers ). Ex disgruntled BR train driver.
