I'd argue that the kick-off is safer than it's ever been with protocols like HIA and the 11-day stand down.

Who was the genius who said Ben Hunt had a great long kicking game? Obviously haven’t watched many Dragons games for the last 6 or 7 years. He’s good for the occasional 40/20 but otherwise his long kicking game is woeful.

I did see (but not 100% sure ) more concussions happen the more hours you play and toward end of season Shortening the NRL season would therefore help with injuries also adding to better origin and international depth -Bring in 18th team asap -Every team plays every1 once + rivalry round. -all teams have same bye’s in which origins,NRLW and maybe development finals are highlighted That’ll even out strength of schedule and travel

The fitness rules would mostly be there to see who really wants to take it serious and who doesnt really have a 100% commitment to the game and their club. Seperate the contenders from the pretenders. And when you are always last, something has to change the standards of the worst team.

My big question is..Why is protective equipment not in the discussion re: head injuries? I know we have a macho attitude but with peoples health and legal ramifications. Should it not at least be considered? Maybe the current headgears aren’t great but with science there must be something…non Newtonian fluid headgear have been used in snowboarding Or a design that cracks and breaks to spread out and absorb the shock. If all players are wearing them some of the head clashes would be greatly reduced. Why not give these guys protective head wear because the head knocks are just going to keep coming no matter how much they tamper about with the rules. It is a collision sport and it is logical that the first step to helping them help themselves is use protective head equipment. Questions will be asked by barristers why didn’t they do this.
@tytutu96257 сағат бұрын
The funny thing is there are more backs that wear head gears than forwards, I can’t think of any forward that wears a head gear other than Josh Curran for my Doggies. You’d think the big boppers would want to help themselves

Munster is rightfully the QLD and AUS #6 for now, but, gee whiz, I cannot imagine leaving Tommy out of either side entirely.
@tytutu96257 сағат бұрын
I guess it’s kinda like that situation with James Tedesco and Dylan Edwards… you have to pick one, doesn’t mean the one you pass on isn’t a gun player it just means he needs to work harder if he wants take Munsters place (for AUS) but I do think you put Tommy Dearden in at 7 for QLD and Munster at 6 (because he’s a left footer and left side of the field player) but for AUS it’s obviously Mitch Moses or Nathan Cleary at 7

Theres no doubt in my mind if Hunt signs with the Roosters he'll be the starting 9 once Walkers back. I know cheese is on the show but its obvious the Roosters dont see him as a long term 9 and with 2 current origin players who can both play 9 potentially on the roster, Cheese will be on the out.

I wouldn't want to see this but to reduce concussion off kick off bring in a no pass rule until you've crossed the 20 or completed your first tackle. Then you can pick it on a back and he'd then have to get off the goal line before he can make a pass which reduces the run up speed/ time of your props coming off the back fence. Again, not something I want to see as I love the idea of a Spencer Leniu charging with no regard for his safety

Re the Wests Tigers, it's also unclear when John Bateman will report for pre-season training. Presumably he has been given a few weeks off following his playing in the internationals against Samoa in England, but I've seen reports on social media that he will spend Xmas in England but that the Tigers want him back before Xmas. I've nothing against John Bateman and nothing against the Tigers, but surely this is another story that looks bad for the club and should be cleared up.

That's what is so ridiculous when they BS on about audiences being up, it's minimal but the point is without the rule changes the ppl who turned away would boost those numbers a lot, they are not trying to reach their potential

It’s literally a contact sport, you could wrap them in bubble wrap and I’m sure someone would still get hurt, I would love all the players to be safe and healthy but that’s not realistic and it’s what they themselves willingly sign up for and get paid for

Hardly any team ever gets pinned in the 10 from kickoff. If Collins said that then he HAS had too many shots to the head. If you don't have your 1st tackle at least on the 20 you need to get your act together.

The parents that won't let their kid play footy cause it's too violent are a lost cause. They aren't going to see any change the NRL makes to cater for them, because they aren't watching in the first place.

27:51 that's not an accurate analysis Cheese of the NFL kickoff at all, you are a casual bro 😂 Most teams still kick touch backs because it's only an extra 10 yards you start from, they also have the defensive line only moving 20 yards to the catching zone to make a tackle not 40 meters like league. My Patriots tried to exploit it by kicking low line drives to the landing zone and it worked by letting us tackle them on the 20 yard line, but then we tried it on the weekend and gave away 2 penalties on the kickoff that cost us extra yards on top of the 30 yard restart.

Normally listen to the audio version of the podcast and really liked it in the beginning but sadly starting to turn off more and more episodes due to either the lack of professionalism, James yawning or really stupid stubborn opinions that would never work in the real world in 2024, like a player draft in the NRL and how much James like players to be punished. Like you said about the Tiger's players missing their targets, every time you stuff up the starting time, miss to put up the questions box or come in obviously tired to the podcast would be a cause for a breach, and you have had a lot of them lately!

@@jvvoid Well, James keeps calling out for punishments for players who are late to training etc, punishments that might have been acceptable when he started playing league but not in 2024 when a Manly player died from harsh treatments at training and a Bulldog player is suing the club for another punishment. Graham refuses to understand that players are still employees and have certain work rights like any other worker despiting working as professional sportsmen. Also, he kept bagging the journalist for being 5 minutes late to the recording last week but comes of with bs excuses for him not knowing how to tell time or set up his recording equipment, or getting enough sleep before work. Just seems very judgmental and hypocritical IMO.
